Who does spoken word with trippy electronic accompaniment?

I am intrigued to make this kind of track ...

Like an amazing trip!

Is anyone else doing something like that? Only I havent heard much spoken word stuff on the forum.

  • You may not have been looking too hard. It seems to me almost everyone on this forum makes electronic music and a majority add spoken word. I am of course speaking in generalities.

  • I heard electronic musicians do this. They say they would receive divided feedback, some like it, most do not like it.
I am very interested in this, but I find what I heard so far, including this one, extremely strange.

  • Most self hypnosis tapes...

  • Was kind of my bread and butter for the first half of the 90s, using a Roland s760 sampler or 4-track tape for the vocal samples. Because, the Orb. And Terry Riley. I eventually got bored with making it but I still enjoy listening to this sort of thing in limited quantities when well done. A lot of people made interesting stuff using the vocal of the young woman who spoke at Biden’s inauguration. There are a lot from young Greta speeches.

  • Intersystems 3rd album wins hands down
not sure whether this comeback thing by the surviving members will be quite the same .. it really relied on the voice and delivery of Blake Parker (r.i.p.)
but good on ‘em for giving it a go...

    We combine shamanic folklore from
Northern Siberia with synthetic sound landscapes:
    https://udagan.bandcamp.com/track/t-kh

New one (bit different to that last one and has a video):

Both tracks have more info and translation on their bandcamp pages.

  • My two synth recommendations for trippy soundscapes (both are used in the first track ‘ötökh’:

Photophore (really good for emulating natural sounds)

    Laplace (weird unreal acoustics!)

  • Spoken word is great - you don’t need to bother with keys or anything 😃

  • @OscarSouth But øtøkh is more like a radio drama/ audio book than music track ;)

  • Hakim Bey, William Burroughs, Ken Nordine. Nice.

Ah please send me links to examples here on forum, can't find any spoken word and would love to hear

Thank you man, this is awesome exactly what I mean and I really loving it - more stuff like this on the forum would be great!

WiIl 100% check out Orb, Terry Riley, Intersystems, Hakim Bey, William Burroughs, Ken Nordine - thanks to all the helpful ones

  • I was recommended from elsewhere this guy Kory Clarke ...

Man it's weird but it sure pulls me in B)

Yeah, that track was actually specifically an experiment into that kind of thing.

The out of synch content really mess with my head

  • Laurie Anderson does this (and so much more)

  • Saw this recently. Not spoken word, but it’s pretty cool. Powwow EDM, Native American Tribal Songs with EDM.

    Anne Clark as well.

Gosh that takes me back ! Still have a copy of that somewhere

  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • The 2021 version of Wotja will actually generate both spoken-word text and trippy electronic accompaniment in real time.

  • This thread brings one of Igor V’s Fieldscaper promo videos to mind

  • Well this kind of describes the noises I've been making. I've literally just set up this channel to post tracks and give myself an incentive to finish more stuff.
