LK and MIDI learn???

Am I going crazy or what?!?

I am trying to use my AKAI MOD226 with LK’s Matrix module. I use midi learn to assign my pads on the AKAI controller, but when I then use the pads, they trigger completely different clips, and they register as both channel 0 and channel 1...?

I am not a MIDI expert, but I understand the basics, but this one I cannot figure out...

  • Ok, I see a system behind the madness.

My vertical line pads are somehow triggering the horizontal line pads, but why????

  • Can you put MIDI Spy (Free app) as the only target of the MOD226, then press a pad to see what comes out? This will help to narrow down the issue. If you're not sure how to interpret what you're seeing there, perhaps you could post a screenshot.

  • Yes, I’ve got MIDI wrench and it corresponds with what is registered in LK.

So, my setup is that I have 3x3 clips in LK and I want to trigger these with my 4x4 pads on the MPD (leaving the last rows for starting scenes and stopping rows playing.

I have programmed the rows like this:

    CC48 49 50 51
    CC52 53 54 55
    CC56 57 58 59
    CC60 61 62 63

This is also what LK tells me when I use Midi learn to assign pads on AKAI to control clips in LK.

But, when I then press 48, 52, 56 (three vertical clips) on the AKAI, they trigger 48, 49, 50 (three horizontal clips) in LK....and I just don’t know why?!? ;)

  • Ok, I’ve worked out a solution. Instead of mapping with LK’s midi learn function, I am mapping it in AUM’s parameter menu. Basically, it’s just a matter of mapping it “upside down”, so the horizontal lines are instead mapped vertically. Then it works with actual setup of my AKAI. I don’t know what’s going on, and I may be the idiot here, but it worked out this way.

Thanks for trying to help out though, @wim 👌
