Control geoswam instruments with roli lightpad
Is there something I don't see? If I want to control a geoswam instrument with a roli lightpad block, I get the alert, that I need a MPE controller. Am I doing something wrong or is it simply not possible?
Comments
Working for me. In fact, thank you, testing it reminded me what a great little controller the lightpad Block is for GeoSwam.
After connecting through the GeoShred midi>Bluetooth dialogue, I’ve got the GeoShred midi configuration set to MPE multi channel, but it seems to work fine with the ROLI ones as well.
From the message you are getting it sounds like your BLOCK is not configured for MPE at the moment. You can change that on the desktop ROLI dashboard app, or thankfully there is also the 3rd party ‘Block dashboard‘ app for iOS where you can change mode and key and stuff, highly recommended if you don’t have it already.
Hope that helps, good news is that it will work and work well.
Okay thank you for this information. It seems that my pad is in MPE mode:
Unfortunately I still get this:
Hmm... can't explain that then - maybe Geoshred is receiving midi from another source and that's tripping it out? Try disabling anything else going in so it's only seeing the Lightpad.
I think you get this message if you are using channel 1 as the input... have you tried changing the channel?
Thanks, I will try that. How do I change the channel
Sorry, not a Blocks user but I guess via the Roli Dashboard (wherever that is) If you Google ‘Roli Blocks Channel’ it finds an entry on the Roli web site that mentions it. I used Atom 2 and using Channel 1 I get the same message as you, Channel 2 played the instrument correctly. Having said all that I would have thought as Blocks was MPE it would get it right out of the box...
