The XDR screen is the main thing that’s tempting me. A 13” version of Apples’ $5k monitor (which itself competes with 20-40k pro monitors. Phenomenal! Almost worth the price of admission just to use it as a secondary monitor for laptop or mac mini.
Going to try to hold off until M2 or M3 generation though, as my ‘18 iPad Pro still blazes through anything I throw at it.
Man, I had a refund lined up for my 3-week old Pro (surprised they did it!), but I decided to keep it when I looked at the price of the new ones. I could’ve gotten an 11 for the same price, but the new 12.9 with 1 TB was $2300 (vs $1500 for the one I kept). That must be some fuckin display.
Apple always make up new terms for common things (like HDR). It’s marketing. 🤷♂️
If they are trying to differentiate between "XDR" and what my TV calls HDR I can't blame them. My TV isn't bad. It's got a nice picture and works pretty well as a monitor, but I can't see any HDR in it.
I would really like to see the 12.9" in person before ordering it to see if it is worth it, but my local Apple store still doesn't have its display area open.
