Took me a while to work out how to get the new keyboard up. First, you need to change the track input to your AU:
(No MIDI generators I’m afraid)
Next you arm the track and the AU appears so click on that:
To resize the window you need to LONG PRESS the top right resize icon. You can also bring up the built-in keyboard here. To record, you need to arm with the record button then hit play:
Can this record multitrack from AUM?
This+Drambo=❤️?
Seems to be able to add AUM bus outs as a source:
Whether it records properly and syncs nicely I do not know.
@mistercharlie It loads at least
To hear the AU when playing the keyboard then turn on Menu -> Input Monitor
@NimboStratus : yes it can. Until Audio Evolution became my go to, this was what I was using to do quick and dirty stem recording with effect tails from AUM for transfer to Ableton. The fact that it can zip project files makes it quick and convenient to port over a whole session to Ableton on my MBP. It also allows direct click and drag of wavs from my AudioShare AUM folder in Files onto tracks in ipad slide over mode, another convenience. All of the complexity in my stuff comes from the ‘auto running’ AUM session itself, and I am not making conventional songs, doing drop ins and overdubs and such like, so I can’t speak to how well it syncs with anything else. Worked fine for what I need.
Remind me, AE can do multitrack record from AUM right? Ta.

Great app
How much does it cost to add tracks?
@Pandan I have the original 8 track version and it costs £4.99 to add another 8 tracks. I do not know what it costs to add the first 8 to the new £0.99 version of the app that only comes with 2 tracks but I imagine it is the same.
I think it’s $4.99 for each group of 8, up to 32 tracks. Don’t quote me.
Great update! I love MTD and it’s one of my main daws. The new mixdown stems option is a very welcome addition. There is one thing that’s still missing for me, and that is a count in feature. You basically have to commit to 1-2 measures of empty recording and keep reminding yourself when syncing. Not a big deal, but something GarageBand employed well. Often times I’ll just record audio tracks in GB vs MTD because of count in making it easier to splice a multi take together. But MTD has an advantage over GB for being able to record at 48/88.2/96, and having a non normalize mixdown option. Looking forward or my next audio project with MTD!
Yes it can as well. I moved over to it from Multitrack DAW as it is higher specced, a near-analog to Cubasis, (I have Cubasis 2, Naonostudio, and BeatHawk as well) in many ways, though at a much more reasonable price, and like that includes track automation. It also has a cool synth and other goodies too, if I want to do something a bit more full featured on the iPad directly. Very active and responsive dev, who keeps adding value, so, yeah. I still have Multitrack DAW on here too mind, especially for that quality of life project zip export thing.
It’s one of the most elegant interfaces in ios music.
What kind of audio editing and automation does this have?
How do you overdub and record an effect to a track if it says' cant record mono to a stereo track. When arming that track?
Whats the idea here?
Thanks.
Ok, thanks! If anyone else can confirm, please do, but I think this gives me a good idea of the ballpark at least.
No auv3? No Link? So what is the point of this app or do I overlook the most important points?
Hi @Lars ! Please give to Cubasis auv3 or Link (everyone had to put up with your vst and they did, but you did not manage to stay ahead of the game, so you just should adopt Link, because it is GOOD)! All problems in iOS music world would be solved (for now) and Cubasis would suddenly be useful and fun.
I selected “Restore Purchases” and now I have 8 tracks without purchasing them.
A quick cpu-efficient, no fuss workflow for recording audio. If you need the things it doesn’t have, you’ll want to use something else. It doesn’t aspire to be Auria Pro or Cubasis.
"Inter-App Audio / AudioUnits v3 - Generators, Instruments, and Effects supported"
What I really wish was available: easily putting audio into a time line, run in in AUM synced with midi and effects, and record result.
Cubasis cannot really be synced with transporst in AUM, I wish it could. Audio cannot easily imported.
Auria cannot be synced. If this MultiTrack Daw could import and sync, this would be GREAT, but it seems it cannot.
What I mention are just basic things, it is unbelievable they are not readily available on iOS. Still hoping @sinosoidal will add audio clips into matrix.
Love the update. I’ve been asking for stem exporting forever. This has just become my go to for recording audio. It does what Cubasis doesn’t, which is let me punch in over audio (Cubasis will let you punch in but the old audio will still be playing underneath when you play it back ) and Auria Pro doesn’t let you punch in manually, which I prefer if I’m recording my vocals or someone else.
The only thing missing for me is that you still can’t seem to use a midi controller to play Auv3 Instruments? I’m definitely not trying to use the onscreen keyboard for recording lol. Well....I still don’t have the one ring to rule them all as far as Ipad daws go, but the stem export feature just made Multitrack Daw my go to for audio tracks.
@Strizbiz The addition of the keyboard did seem a little...odd? Maybe it is the first step to adding MIDI support
One of the other nice things it offers is multi-takes. Again something that not all DAWs do today.
I think BeatMaker will sync to MIDI clock,
Auria Pro will sync to midi time code—but nothing on iOS generates sends out MTC.
Real-time audio-synching is somewhat CPU intensive (it is essentially a constantly re-adjusting time-stretching). It would be much easier for the MIDI sequencers to follow a DAW but most of the ones on iOS can’t be slaves. I am not sure if any even follow MTC or SPP.
Can Mtd record tweaked effects in app, to any audio track needing an effect?
Like audio in aum, with a then added tweaked effect?
Link would be good but I guess with au instrument recording in mtd. It wouldnt be that much. Link would be cool for sequencers in aum that have inifinate patterns or timeline. So some track is in Mtd, it continues into aumbecause you have patterns and a sequencer. Maybe a different aum save?
Not seeing point of app apart from being able to duplicate audio as blocks. Possibly continue in aum with a different set of synths/drums and try add that roughly to mtd but not sure about adding effects per track ( if tweaks of effects are recorded )
lol
One of MTDaw’s nice features is looped recording. It creates a clip for each time through the loop. With a little work, by adding additional empty tracks, you can comp a solo pretty easily.
