Nanostudio track needs comment
I normally don't have the nerve to open a thread for some silly song, but my situation is as follows:
almost a year ago a musician friend of mine showed me a track he made on his phone with Nanostudio and I was so impressed I bought the app right away, although I didn't have any musical experience, and started to learn the ways of electronic music. The passed couple of months I've spent an inordinate amount of time trying to sketch little musical ideas and also lots of money on other apps I read about on this site (but somehow I only get things done in Nanostudio, it's the most comfortable for me).
Recently I've been having the need for some meaningful comments from people with more experience, since all I hear from my non musical few friends I've shown my "creations" to is: "yeah, pretty nice". Hence me starting this thread here.
But hey, enough of my yakking - as Marty DiBergi would say - here's the track. Thanks for listening!

Yeah, it's pretty nice...
Just kidding, it's really nice! Digging the bassline and it's an interesting piece for sure. Love the stereo airy little bit around 1:50. My only critique is it sounds a little muddy, sounds like the drums, bass synth, and string bass are all taking up the same frequencies. Maybe EQ the drums higher, synth bass can take the lows and boost the mids of the string bass sound?
Hardly an engineer here, but consciously giving each instrument it's own frequency space has definitely given me better sounding mixes.
Placing all settings on 11 will also give you that Tufnel tone.
Nice groove. I'm not sure what your going for on the sound so it's hard to say do this or that. I, like @CSwinn think the bass line is good. Personally, due to my taste, would like to see more evolution of sound in the song (change), but that may not be what your after. I like it, keep up the good work.
All personal taste really but I would drop the bass down an octave. The drums could go with a bit of tweaking to fit inside the rhythm of the baseline. As a work in progress it's going the right way, well done :-)
Thanks a lot for the great comments, that's exactly what I was hoping for. It's funny how all the suggestions you guys made I had already percieved as weaknesses myself when I made the track, but couldn't really improve due to lack of skill/talent etc. It's sometimes overwhelming how much work it takes to produce a decent track, but that's also part of the fun. Again, thanks a lot!
PS (@CSwinn): i did try to turn the settings all the way to 11, but all I got was bad clipping.
Crizzy I always found that progress in music was dead slow or stop! You are doing all the right things, keep asking for advice from some of the nice folks on these forums and the skills will soon come! Don't forget to keep enjoying it!!!!!! :-)
