How do I emulate this synth sound on iOS?
The keyboard lead sound in the first 30 seconds of this Star One video. It sounds like some kind of square wave form with an octave (or fifths maybe) split, and some delay. I've tried a bunch of different synths (Magellan, Sunrizer, etc.) but haven't come close to duplicating that sound. Maybe this is easy pickins for some of the analog synth veterans out there. Any ideas? Thanks.

First approach, it sounds a bit like Animoog\KEYS\SoftNBrassy tweaking the modulation ring.
I'm interested on more opinions. It's a kind of contest.
I think Argon should do the trick. Square + saw, split one octave, detuned a little bit. Use a filter envelope with a medium-long decay and a bit of resonance. Use some portamento. The "tremble" is obtained via a pitch wheel, you can recreate it via ThumbJam, shaking the device.
Another try: iMini\Leads\GTD_Saw_You
A sparkly blouse wouldn’t hurt, either.
New vocalists just keep popping up as the song goes along
iMini is your synth.
The tremble is from a mod wheel attached to osc pitch. Sounds like a Juno to me. IMini or sunrizer is where I'd start. This would make a good contest. Wish I weren't at work!
@Schrodinger: Why have only one world-class singer when you can have 5! Damian Wilson, Sir Russel Allen, Floor Jansen to name three of them. Star One is a concept band with each song portraying a different Sci-fi film or novel. All of the singers represent different characters. That song, for example, is about the film 'Outland'.
@bixnood: I tried playing around with Argon a bit but have no real idea what I'm doing. I managed to make it quack like a duck pretty well though. Some screen shots would help.
I don't have iMini but will definitely look into it. Thanks for all of the input so far.
Trying to dissect a sound appeals to me! I just don't have enough technical know-how in this area to be at all dangerous. One of my music-making pastimes is seeing how well I can emulate the original sound in a song. I know that there are plenty of musos out there that absolutely abhor the idea of trying to copy someone else's work, preferring instead to put their own trademark on a cover tune. I, however, have always maintained that it was the original sound and arrangement that turned me on to the song in the first place, so why re-invent a wheel that some in an audience has never rode on?
I'm tryin' it, and it sure ain't easy. There's some kind of resonance sweep, and definitely legato, but finding the right sound ain't easy.
There's portamento too.
The dudes over at Synthpatcher.com work stuff like this out all the time. http://synthpatcher.com
I've been messing around with trying to emulate the sound in Magellan with Saw 1 + Saw 3 osc sources split one octave. It's probably not the ideal synth for it, but I've come pretty close and had better luck than trying to emulate it than in Sunrizer.
Unfortunately the Magellan square wave osc timbre sources sound too buzzy and lack the warmth of the original synth. The original synth sound in the video also has more of a hollow sound to it, like blowing air across a straw, that I can't seem to emulate in Magellan. Sunrizer comes closer in that regard but creates other undesirable artifacts at the same time.
The resonance sweep is pretty closely emulated by setting one of the low pass filters at high freq with a fast attack/slow decay/medium resonance. The "tremble" is obtained by adding a saw wave filter envelope to osc 3 (square wave source), with a slow attack, very slight amplitude and medium rate.
I can't figure out how to add the portamento in Magellan. Is that even possible? I don't see a knob or switch for it.
Panel 1, Glide.
Try using the 2nd synth engine to produce the square wave component and use the filter section to get rid of the buzz. Both synths can be played from the one keyboard using the Syn Couple switch.

You could try this on Caustic too
