20th Anniversary - Guitar Amp by db audioware

https://apps.apple.com/app/id1553090626

Description:

Celebrating db audioware’s 20 years in the audio software business, 20th Anniversary is an original virtual guitar amp that oozes pick-up-and-play appeal.

A true guitarist’s amp, 20th Anniversary excels at clean, blues and rock tones, with a full pedalboard of classic FX and an eye-catching intuitive interface.

There are no complex menus or screens to navigate, no in-app purchases or advertising to distract you. Simply plug your guitar into your iPad or iPhone via any compatible audio interface, and start playing.

20th Anniversary is the perfect silent practice amp - pop on a set of headphones, and the standalone app delivers the same kind of absorbing experience as a premium hardware amp in a natural sounding space. There’s a comprehensive set of starter presets (for both humbucker and single-coil pickups) and a built-in tuner to get you up and running quickly.

For additional flexibility, the 20th Anniversary AUv3 plug-in works with apps like GarageBand, Cubasis or AUM.

The multi-stage preamp and vintage tone stack, and choice of stereo cabinets with multiple mic positions offers a massive range of amp tones. A comprehensive range of vintage style FX (drawn from db audioware’s extensive audio effects library) and a lush stereo plate reverb completes the sound.

Runs as a standalone app or AUv3 plug-in. Can be controlled from any iOS compatible MIDI device allowing remote control of presets or any amp parameter.

We recommend using 20th Anniversary with wired headphones. For an iPhone with no headset socket, we advise using an audio interface with dedicated headphone output (for example, an iRig HD 2).

    Thanks :)

  • Well done....purchased already and cannot wait to try it out. Hopefully will put a brake on my Nembrini/Overloud and Amplitube spending.

Much appreciated. Hope you enjoy it!

  • Installed...

  • @DaveB Congrats on the release, sounds great! Instant inspiration and fun playing, just how it should be when plugging into an amp and pedal board.

  • Nice! Flying Haggis was my favorite amp sim on desktop.
I also really enjoy Sidechain Compressor and Sidechain Gate. (I miss the delay, it had the best UI and a great, clean sound.)

Congratulations on 20 years and thanks!

  • Congrats @DaveB on the release! I’ll be purchasing soon!

Sorry I couldn’t be more help with the beta. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to help shape your app into the amazing product you now have.

  • Congratulations on the release of what’s going to be a legendary guitar app!

  • I would have to see a video with some sound samples etc before I purchased

  • The user and all related content has been deleted.

    Woah, not DirectX Dave Brown?

    Yup.
    One and the same.

    @DaveB
    Congratulations on your release.
    Sounds good.

Here’s a quick video I made a few weeks ago during the last beta, if it interests you. I use three of the factory presets without any tweaks or adjustments. Mojotone quiet coils, motu m4, gold cable, that’s it.

I will eventually make a few videos of the release, to show off the app’s strength, which is great Vox/Fender cleanish sound drenched in warm roomy reverb and impulse responses, with enough drive and fx available for classic rock or Brit pop etc...

    Great stuff!

  • I’ve tried the app (last beta) and I’ve found it easy and fun to play.
To my ears, the app compresses the sound too much as if there was a compressor or limiter in the signal chain (with compressor pedal turned off).
It makes the app very pleasant and easy to play, but the, feel is not the one you have with a tube amp or even other amp sims.
I think that’s what people like about this app.
Sound wise it is a good app.

  • @JoyceRoadStudios, nice stuff.

I'll also upload a few short demo videos over the coming days. Here's the first, showing off a few of the cleaner presets. I'm not the best guitarist, so these videos will be 'basic' :)

You’re right there’s a brick wall limiter applied at the output stage, making the app more fuss free as a result. I actually would not mind a limiter on/off toggle as an option, like in GSVC.

I also find everything in the app sounds better with the compressor on and set around noon.

  • Purchased.

  • Another simple wee demo video, this time showing off some classic rock & more grungy presets.

Standard iOS screen recording from my iPad, with no post processing on the audio.

Guitar clip is a Hagstrom Ultra Swede on the bridge pickup, recorded direct into 1st gen iPad Pro with an original Apogee Jam. Then looped in AUM because I'm lazy .

  • Another demo, this time Cubasis 3 + 6 instances of 20th Anniversary AUv3. No other effects used.

Clean tones are a Tele on neck pickup, dirty tones are a Hagstrom Swede on the bridge, solo is the Hagstrom on the neck.

I wish I could play better, but hey-ho, it's still fun

Nice demo, and nothing wrong with your playing!

  • @Jamie_Mallender

Though it may seem funny to you, ‘pissypants’, doesn’t really sound that good.
    It lacks a certain....,’Respect’.

Granted many of us are feeling it under Lockdown
here in the U.K but I do find that rather disrespectful.

I was actually going to have a look at your channel as I remember when you first started.
I’m not going to bother now.

    @DaveB nice track!

  • Me jamming with this nice app

Keeping things simple here , I am just trying one preset “blues solo”

Delay is third party , since I could not get it to sound the way I like (FH delay i.e)

    Dirty - Gain on

    clean

I’ve found that Guitar Amp sounds really good.
The only thing I found lacking was the inclusion of a wah wah pedal
or envelope filter but I have those third party anyway.

    Nice examples.

True , one the things of a plug-in you should not tweak much to find a decent sound

On a separate note , ( don’t know how to explain ) did not feel like I wanted to turn those knobs of Fx much , not very smooth ( similar to DDMF apps)

    But Amp sounds great

My current favorite on IOS is combination of gainstage + OD by blamsoft + rooms (thafknar) impulse response app

This soon might be the one ( haven’t finished checking thoroughly).
I had to check this one out.

I am also waiting for H9 sculpt plug-in

I’m sorry if you dislike my use of the word pissypants. I gather from your post that you haven’t already checked out my channel, which would explain why you’re not familiar with my use of the word, which isn’t even really a word. It isn’t meant in a disrespectful way whatsoever, has nothing to do with lockdown or anything like that. It’s a phrase I use instead of saying faff about with, mess about with, fanny around with etc.. I’ve said it for many many years. I said it once in a video and it got a lot of laughs so it became a thing on my channel. it is totally lighthearted and a little humour goes a long way. Many viewers find it very amusing and are purchasing Merch with it written on to help out the channel. You are the only person who has every expressed any concern over the word and you know, you can’t please all of the people all of the time.
