Thoughts on waves extension (Drambo)?

edited April 2021 in General App Discussion

I have Drambo and have been thinking on getting the waves extension. I am not much of a synth fan (I play the guitar), in the sense that I am never really that interested on getting more synths than the ones I already have: Synth One, Scythe, Poison202, TC11, Kauldron, FM player2 and Wavestorm. I also have Addictive Synth which I used to love but it is no AUV3.
So, do you guys think the waves extension from Drambo makes sense in this context? My main interest with this extension is that it is part of Drambo (I honestly would not care too much about it otherwise), and some patches at patchstorage are built around the extra wavetables.

Cheers!

  • I find the sounds built on Wave-based oscillators to be richer for my tastes and make Drambo a more useful product. Before it was produced I found the typical Drambo sounds to be too "beepy" and blah compared to the synths I love.

    1. You get an infinitely open variety of sounds, as you can download wavetables. Anything that works on Serum (of which there's a huge community online) works here.
    2. you get a whole new set of classic analog effects to apply to the oscillator: Folding, Saturating, various types of warping, PWM, Hard Sync, Ring Modulation, as well as a dedicated filter. While you can get some of these with the standard modules, you need to build them, whereas with the Waves they're ready to apply.
  • Since you own Drambo already, why not load the Factory > "Drambo on waves" project and check out the individual tracks.
I've created that demo with a strong focus on showcasing the wavetable oscillator in different ways.

  • Thanks guys for the comments. I tried it as per rs2000 suggestion and went ahead and bought it
