do you guys use fullsized ipads or mini's and if you use a mini are you happy with the size?

Search first, please. Jillions of threads/opinions. If you don't find what you need, start a new thread about that question. This thread is (meant to be) about sample storage and usage.

I was asking those in this post specifically

I get that. I’m suggesting that you’ll get better, more useful to you answers by searching the forum first and then, if needed, by creating a new thread with that question as the thread title. As is, you’re only asking the opinions of the few users who opened a thread about “using samples”.

  • im finding that some apps are not working with my midi controller such as poison 202 while apps like gadget works without flaws any thoughts?

Not based on that vague description.

You’ll need to be more specific about how you tried to set your controller up with Poison 202.

  • Is the controller a behringer?

  • no its a launchpad

  • with lot of the other apps it just automaticaly worked and i do not see any midi settings on the iphone version of the app

  • On Dropbox, I had a similar issue a while back.
It turned out it was my internet provider's "family safety" filter. It blocked file sharing apps, and included things like Dropbox in that category. I whitelisted Dropbox and everything worked again.

    im guessing that is it

  • I have searched for this but found nothing but can you guys reccomend asynth for dark techno?

I had a hand-me-down iPad Mini 2 I was using last year - I decided to upgrade to an iPad 8. The screen is nearly twice the size, which makes apps like Cubasis easier to work with.

The only thing I've gotten frustrated about is your repeated rejection of help about Dropbox and how it seems like you ignore posts trying to help you with it and also to help you understand the files app, iOS's main way of managing files.

I'll say it one more time. Dropbox is NOT dead. The web site WORKS. There is either something you're not describing well, or you've made some kind of error. If you want to try to sort that out then I'll play, if you respond to posts. Otherwise I'll just leave Dropbox for you to figure out if you want.

Dropbox aside, you really should get familiar with the Apple Files app as your first step. I posted a link for you in another thread when you asked what the files app is. Did you get familiar with it yet? If not, then I suggest digging up that post (I'm not going to do it for you), and get to understand the files app a little.

Once that's done it'll be easier to start with a single app and work through the process of getting samples into it using the files app. As you mention, each app is a bit different, but they all have some things in common when it comes to importing files.

Sorry to be so blunt about any frustrations. I'm perfectly happy to spend hours and hours helping anyone that listens, but when advice goes unheeded, I just don't spend the time. B)

when i go to google and type in dropbox , dropbox does come up as a search result so i click on it and then it redirects to this

Something strange is happening on your machine if Dropbox.com is not showing up as the first result. I just searched for Dropbox and it is the top result.

You can also go straight to its web site. Dropbox.com

it is the first result but when i click on it, it says it cannot connect, maybe something with my router because i have no issues using my phone

Look at that long URL - there might be something in it that’s invalid. Forget search results, just type www.dropbox.com directly into the browser and see what happens.

Just got back from Best Buy and I ended up getting the 129gig ipad standard (newest ersion) with the A12 processor. Hoping I will not have any regrets...I thought about getting the apple pencil but was not sure if it had any advantages while adjusting things on cubabsis and other synths. I just settled with this one because finances and such because i also will end up gettin some audio technica monitoring cans....still need to buy some other apps and such

  • Congrats on the purchase.

So I got everything hooked up. I have my new ipad going with a CCK connected and when I load any apps whether its gadget or launchpad and I get a popup error that quickly disssapears but after a few times I was able to piece together what it said and it says "cannot use accessory because it requires too much power but the thing is I also have my ipad charging at the same time. so in my mind it is still getting power even though it is charging. right? or will a powered usb hub solve my problem? which I also have one coming from amazon in a day or so...thoughts?
It is worth mentioning that things worked fine when connected to my iphone....had no issues then

    What controller?
Is it the official Apple CCK or some other brand?

And yes, a powered hub will probably help.

Some accessories draw more power than the Apple usb power adapters supply. Some powered USB hubs supply enough power when used with the CCK and some don’t.

For my launchpad X, I can’t use an Apple charger to supply power via lightning to the cck BUT a third party USB power supply works fine as does my Belkin powered hub.

If you have a non-Apple usb power adapter try it to run power into the lightning port of the cck. If you have a Mac, power the lightning port of the CCK by running the usb to lightning cable from the Mac to the Cck’s lightning port.

iPads draw more power than the phone. The Apple power adapters don’t have as much oomph as some third-party adapters.

  • iPads draw more power than iPhones.

iPad chargers can handle more power than iPhone chargers.

iPhones charge much quicker on iPad chargers.

Some iPads can even consume more battery than charge with the screen on and need it to be off to charge, slowly.

The cable is NOT the charger.

USB ports on some devices/PCs don’t have enough power to charge phones.

While some devices Do require too much power and a powered hub will make it work I found that a non powered hub was a work around for a few controllers I had. Controllers into the hub and then the hub to the CCK. I found a thread about it here somewhere that explained why it works that way.

At home I use a big wall powered USB hub from icybox:

For mobile usage I‘m using a small 4-port hub that also can be powered by a power bank:

Even the mobile setup can power my Launchpad X, Behringer audio interface, MicroFreak and Korg NanoKeys keyboard. But must be a powerbank with a fast charging port. The fast charge port to the hub and a standard one into the CCK.

Sadly, it doesn't work with the Launchpad X which has a legitimately big power draw.

Well shit....so looks like I need a new controller. Now I must go shopping some more.when looking for other controllers, do other controllers work better than some with the iPad. I.m looking for a smaller controller but with full sized keys. Are any controllers audio mapped to certain synths and what about cubasis does it have the MIDI learn function if I want to add a small control surface like a notation launch control.?

You don't need a new controller. You have a great one. USB power supplies and good hubs are cheap

  • I saw up above that espiegal said it did not work. I thought he meant it did not wrk with a hub either. Guess I misunderstood....UPS is delivering my hub today
