You need to unzip the the zip file using the Files app before you can import the presets into Mela.
I know but unzipping launched mononoke.
Now it dont but it did. Plus the file still shows in the deletion of mononoke. Sorry to intrude on your thread. Its just I noticed wierd behaviour so I posted. Its not your download. Its just I think a download opening an app plus files showing in apps on deletion ( photo shown ) is worth mentioning. It is to me because Im sending ipad back to apple.
Maybe mononoke tells the system that it’s the “editor” of the zip files. If an app claims ownership of certain files they end up launching automatically.
Try, navigating to the zip file in the Files app, then touch and hold the file. From the popover menu select “Uncompressed”
Thanks. When you selected all. How do you move to mela?
I know why Drambo shows downloads. Because you can choose to direct downlads to icloud drive when factory installing.
Tap “Open”
Hi. From here. How do you move all selected?
Thanks
just tap any file and hold for a second, then drag the whole bunch of presets and drop into the plugin window
Thanks Emanresu
Ohhh you can swipe... I didn’t know that, that will work.
Yea I don’t know much about the coding side of things, so I didn’t realize the involvement.
Uhhh. Holy crap. Yes I’d love one, I am on iOS 14.4.2. Thanks man that is super generous of you, I’m a huge fan of Mela 1, and now I’m really excited to try out 2. if you it’s ok with you, could you send a DM in this forum, that would be awesome. When you have a chance of course. Thank you very much @Nikolozi
Thanks for the presets. I just bought Mela 1 not to long ago, so I’ll try them in there. Didn’t know there was a part 2 coming. I’ll try it at a later date though.
oh sorry, for some reason I assumed you were using Mela 2. Good to hear you sorted it out.
Awesome, I'm happy to support musicians when I can DM sent.
Ummm? I'm stuck. I've unzipped them in the Files app, got it sat on top of Mela 1, selected all but won't let me drag and drop. I can deselect all and do them one at a time but no amount of touching and holding will let me drag them anywhere when they're selected...
Am I missing something obvious?
No worries. Thanks for patches. Although I havent added to Mela. Have to send ipad away. Will download if and when it returns.
Hi. Same. I just said thanks.
I think I know what’s going on. The Files app freezes. I think for some reason maybe it can’t handle that many files being selected and dragged. Try selecting 10 and then drag-dropping. See if that works.
Lol. Very polite. Maybe we should drag them one at a time?
Hey Sigma selected 10 as per Dev's suggestion and it worked fine
It works fine. Thank you.
I really hate iOS file management.
@FPC looks like the response latency increases linearly with the number of items you select. So more items you select longer you need to wait before the Files app responds to your touch-hold gesture. Maybe try dragging 20 presets at a time?
Sweet
Yes, it needs to be much better.
Isn't there a way to add it to Mela as default patches in a future update?
@sigma79
I managed to drag all 365 at a time, you need tap and hold for a second then drag to the place and, without releasing finger, wait about 5 sec until all files collected in a heap
Great. Thanks that worked for me after 2 or 3 attempts. Too many files for iOS to handle I guess.
That would be ideal. Transferring this many files after the fact is a bit inconvenient, but I do appreciate the extra work involved creating them.
One concern of mine I have with this app, @Nikolozi : Have you looked into organizing presets in more of a drop-down menu arrangement? Side scrolling through hundreds and hundreds of presets which appear to self-organize in alphabetical order is not efficient for production. Please improve the organization of the sounds in the app. Your customers will appreciate it!
Are most of these patches SFX type sounds? As all the ones I loaded don't sound like your normal bass, pad, lead sounds. Could I have corrupted the files when downloading?
I had the same issue. Quit the app and restart at least several times if you are loading up a lot of patches. The app develops problems during the importing process and must be reloaded to function properly. This app has potential, but it is also problematic in a number of very basic ways. To be honest, I also find it priced too high relative to their competition.
I don't know if there is really any issues with this. I will only note that when creating presets my priority was the uniqueness of sound with maximum use of possibilities of various types of modulation parameters in synth, so there is no emphasis on the standard set of instruments and sounds, instead there are many presets where e.g. basses, leads, strings and various effects are intertwined
It's something I've considered, but it makes things a bit complicated for a few reasons:
1. If I'm going to include artists presets in the shipping app then I would like to compensate them for their work. Then the process of how that could be done with different artists can get quite involved.
2. Once I have their presets then I have to go through all them and ensure they are consistent with the factory presets (and make adjustments as needed, e.g. not all artists wire up velocity and modulation wheels etc). Which is also a lot of work.
I'm not against those 2 things. But at this point I think it's better if I link the artist presets on my site (whether it's paid or free) and users can import / buy ones they like. And artist can decide in whatever form or style they want to create and deliver their presets.
Importing in Mela 2 works great and the custom user groups feature, I'm currently working on, should make managing imported presets easier.
