Any good vs v1?
In the toolbox now
Ok I have to admit. I bought it and it’s supercool.
I wished the warble would be in stage 1 a bit more gentle than it is right now. But it’s really cool.
Deleted both LoFlyDirt and FlyTape and installed Fly Tape 2
While mapping some parameters I bumped into a WTF moment with AUM...
...It's impossible to 'Midi Learn'(Notes) using the AUMs built-in keyboard as tapping on the on-screen keyboard dismisses the midi-learn pop-up...
Also it's not possible to save midi mappings separately AUM as they are saved as part of the session.
There's way too many parameters to map every time a new session is created so maybe the developers could add some kinda of default mapping?(ie. one midi-note per UI button).
With 'Midi Output' this would also enable users to record the FlyTap 2 performance straight into Atom 2 or other sequencers.
It's a win-win situation...
Cheers!
How do we find this in its positioning with our more recent selections of tape saturations like Reelbus, Tape Pro/Cassette, ChowTape?
I'd say FlyTape 2 is more a 'performance oriented effect' and not strictly a tape emulation.
That speed toggle is pretty intriguing.
Are the effects similar to how Chomplr is?> @Samu said:
Does the lofi effect cover what Lo-Fly dirt does? That’s a drag to hear about the midi, that’s definitely something I’d like a setup that I can save with how it’s performance based
Don't have Chomplr but I suspect it's pretty similar effects as for LoFly Dirt (which I never really liked) I'd say there's enough variety in FlyTape 2 to cover it but that's just my opinion.
The video does FlyTape 2 justice to the effects so take that as a point of reference.
(I'm quite sure more videos will pop up sooner or later).
I like this little app way more than I care to admit!
Lo-Fly Dirt is great for adding warmth to drums and bass!
I do wish each effect had an individual mix fader so i can get more wobble and less saturation with one instance and not have to run multiple , but i dont expect that to change so I’ll roll with multi instance
Yeah we need individual Mix levels for the effects.
Love thé New version ! It’s my 404 fx in my iPad
Which portable controller you use to make live performance with it ?
+1!!!
(Or at least individual ones for the three: wobble/sat/LoFi)
Once again like fly tape v1 can’t toggle the buttons on/off . Why can’t they just simply add this function. Having to physically press & hold to hear the effect is a bit “DEpressing”
I understand what you mean, although if you press the HOLD button, it will HOLD any effect you press so you can hear the effect, basically satisfying the need to audition!
The the hold button in the middle...
@Stuntman_mike ok cheers for the info.
@Samu thanks Samu. My mistake
@reasOne @echoopera @Bon_Tempi I agree . A workaround could be to load a few instances on a track or AUXs Each with different mix and effect settings
Have to say Iam very impressed with this. Sounds brilliant. Would like a way to stop those reels going round and round
One thing that is quite nice is that almost everything is midi-mappable using AUM.
But honestly I would have preferred if everything was pre-mapped to midi notes and that the plug-in would output midi as well.
This would make performance recording a lot easier. Just select FlyTape 2 as the Midi-Input in a sequencer and record...
(Speed could be midi-note 36, sat, 37, mute 38, rev 39, warble 40, lo-fi 41, brake 42, stutter 43 etc, etc...).
All the buttons on the different 'fx pages' are mappable so it's easy to both enable stutter and change the stutter-rate using a controller.
Since there are so many parameters that can be mapped 'mapping' becomes a chore, midi-mappings in AUM won't work in Cubasis, BM3, NS2. And when loading another instance the mappings have to be remade...
Someone likely had a minor glitch in the logic department when creating the app when it comes to midi
Hosts that can record AUParameters do not suffer from this but those 'hosts' are pretty rare...
Cheers!
Oh well fly tape2 settings are not retained when loading saved projects in bm3. Not tried other DAWs as yet. Anyone else having same issues?
Same here in AUM. I’ve also tried saving and recalling a preset inside AUM and nothing
@sharifkerbage i just tested in AudioEvo & Cubasis3 same issue.
