Very cool! Never heard of “velocity keyboard”. App Store says “Works with this iPad” for me, but I’m sure my Air 1 doesn’t support velocity.

I wonder which iPads can generate the velocity data? What is it called, Force Touch, Haptic Touch, 3D Touch, or something? Are these all the same thing? Isn’t this mainly on phones?

Velocity expression has long been my dream for iPad.

  • I believe velocity keyboard uses the accelerometer to set velocity for each note. Your Air 1 supports this.

    Wow! Really? Who knew?

  • This app is really a great tool!

  • To be blunt, the smattering of bad reviews on the App Store has prevented me from buying Velocity Keyboard. I have yet to find a ‘perfect’ solution in a third party keyboard for controlling MPE in other synths.

  • In the last half of the video I was thinking of Clapton and then Sting.
    Nice compositions. :)

  • Jaysus Flo ... that passage that kicks in at the three minute mark or so ... just superb.

No, you don't just control the thing - you utterly dominate it. Masterful.

    Thanks a lot!
I’ve always thought the iPad could an instrument by itself.
    Cheers!

  • Great playing @flo26 , and lovely music. Was this all improvised or worked out before hand? Either way a great job.
I agree with your view that that iPad can be considered an instrument in its own right, in my case with GeoShred.
I have tried to use the same sound (and BeatHawk in general) with GS before and never been happy with the results but having just investigated further, inspired by the great sounds you produced, I think that may be down to the Midi preset I have been using. Strangely the one that appears to work best is ‘Arturia iSEM’ played via something like the Classical Guitar preset. This works a treat on sounds as diverse as the guitar you have used to the Bagpipes from the Celtic pack. If you use ‘Slide’ mode then note bends also work. Hope this is of help to all the shredders out there.

  • So beautiful... Would love to listen to a duet with yourself... a virtual-instrument Florent playing with a physical-instrument one

  • That was a wonderful piece.

I missed playing my Nylon string so I got Velocity Keyboard and the 2 Beathawk packs with guitars due to an earlier video of @flo26 I watched. Now this one makes me want to go back to the apps to practice
