New 8th gen or used pro
Hi,
Sorry for another ..which one ...thread, but I'm looking at a 10.2 8th gen 128 iPad at 425$. Was looking at older pros. The new one runs ios14.
I mainly use it for live use...bm3.. DRM perfect pro..midifire..etc.
I use a iconnevtivity audio 4 + lightning conne ted.
BTW I coming from a air 1.
Any recommendations or things to look out for?
Thanks

The iPad 8 is very similar in spec to the Air 3, should be a decent step up over Air 1.
I did this very transition and really happy with the 8th Gen iPad. It handles Cubasis 3 well with a good number of audio, midi and IFX running. I’ve noticed Jamm Pro gets a bit crackly sometimes. The main drawback for me is no USB-C charging port, so an audio interface needs external power. Overall I’d say It’s a good value ipad with just enough grunt to handle some of the newer cpu intensive apps. I also got some money off for recycling my Air 1 too
Hi,
Thx for the answers..
Might as well get used to the base model if it will do what you want
Limited storage on 8, but 3gb, I think. And the screen is not as satisfying folks say. For me just missing tru color and a bit heavier. does not feel as elegant. Me, i’d go for a used 256-512 Pro2 if I could only have one.... or the new Air.
Ditto @LinearLineman just for the max storage being 128g on the 8th gen. Crazy how quickly I filled my 128g 1st gen pro.
Hi,
My budget is around 425$. Didn't see a pro with that amount of storage for that money. I can get a 128 8 gen new for 379$. But if you could hip me to where to look.
BTW my air has 32 GB:-)
@FlowingRobes ... Walmart, of all places! This looks refurbished from Loop Mobile...

That is one hell of a deal. Someone grab it while it’s there. Great iPad for making music.
Ummm.... more info on Loop Mobile... don't look reliable. There was another thru Walmart at $549... also unreliable seller. The internet does help in this stuff.
This looks amazing however... ikve heard of Back Market. Will check reviews...

@FlowingRobes if that’s your budget and you were getting by on 32g on an Air1, the 8th gen with new chip and 3g of ram will be a huge upgrade, plus you keep the headphone jack. I would suggest buying the AppleCare+ for $69. Depending on where you live, Datavision.com ships 2 day free and no tax. If you look up datavision Coupons on google, I found an additional $10 off, they sometimes have $20 off.
Maybe this one...

Reviews better? Anyway, worth the search. They seem to be out there around $500.

I have to agree. I need a lot more storage, but if the OP got by on 32, 128 will be huge. And the product is new.
Keep in mind that new iPad Pros are going to be announced soon, possibly during Apple’s WWDC at the end of this month.
Hi,
Thanks for all the info. That's why I asked here. You guys are great.
