Any one get the new CIRCUIT or ROLAND VERSELAB?

Appreciate feedback.

  • Previous circuits was my first synth, but I didn’t work a lot with it...

    Worst synth I’ve had

  • I loved the original circuit, but the new one doesn't really bring much more to the table for me since I don't need the midi tracks. I decided to wait for the sample one instead of upgrading.

Verselab looks way too simple for me as a 707 user. Unless you need longer audio recordings with nothing but super basic editing, I can't see why someone would get the Lab over the 707.

I didn’t rate the original circuit until I started tweaking patches via computer to introduce movement and overdrive. Now I quite like it (but I don’t like Novation for suppressing ios editor development). Like Tarekith, I can’t really see much useful to me in the new model, except maybe the extra patch bank capacity.

  • I got the circuit tracks, and to be completely honest I wish I didn’t buy it. I do own a mpc one and there is nothing the circuit can do that the mpc can’t and the synth engine IMO is absolutely Ntn great at all in 2021. Probably will sell in near future.

    Exactly!

    On the Circuit.

I feel like the basic same release of a Circuit 2.0 prior to the big actual update may be the wisest marketing move.

I would love to see what Riddim from Novation will be.

Verselab is more thing to give me finger drumming fun as well to get those juicy Roland synths/drums.

I think the Versa for the price may be an amazing purchase.

The new Circuit lingering is holding me up.

This is the area of Circuit that I've yet to get into. Are you editing on mac or pc? How do you find the software?

I've got the original Circuit. The synth engine is excellent imo and the updated Components makes it much easier to work with.

The new one felt a bit like a rejig rather than a proper update and I didn't even feel curious about it, right from the off. It seemed as though they were simply fixing a few things from the original. I believe that there's one more version of the Circuit in the works, a sampler. I am excited about that. We'll see.

You tweak but you don’t know what are you tweaking.

    Sequencer isn’t very intuitive.

I love it more as a groove box than a synth.

Ah yeah, I get you. It's a weird decision imo. Most user-unfriendly synth interface of all time. Components has made it a bit better but not by much.

The software does the job for editing quite well, but patch storage and transfer remains pretty baffling. On mac, btw. You can also use midisynth on the ipad, but again the patch system is not the easiest.

Full name of the app is Midisynth control.

  • If you enjoy making songs and not just jams and loops the VERSELAB is nice. Can also work as midi sequencer.

    Many thanks!

  • I had verselab for a week. Too menu divey, and integration with iPad uninspiring so far. I’m sure it will improve, but it led to an epiphany. I realised my yearning for an experience untethered to the very capable iMac on the desk was becoming counter productive. I sent the verselab back and bought a maschine mk3 and still have money in the pot for a small synth somewhere down the line.
