Do you know why all of the previous Auria and Auria Pro ratings and reviews have disappeared from the App Store? There used to be many more reviews, both great and not so great. Now it seems as if the App Store restarted it or something. Does this happen with some apps?

  • Let me tell ya. If you can’t grasp Cubasis 3. No chance with Auria Pro.

I wonder if old reviews and ratings roll off over time...it would make sense otherwise years old (and no longer relevant) ratings would have disproportionate weight...it would provide some incentive for developers to keep their apps working well or to improve apps that might have been initially poorly received that got better or found their audience. But who knows what algos Apple uses..which probably change over time.

Developer choice. You can choose to reset your reviews when you release a new version. Also, reviews are tied to and displayed by region. I really hate that part.

Right, with Auria it seemed to have happened after their recent major update, but the ratings now are really poor compared to before...

AP works well for me with how I use it, and the mixer view and its functionality has always been a favorite feature for me on iOS.

@jdolecek49 - you've mentioned having difficulty grasping Cubasis 3. If that is the case then Auria probably isn't a good choice for you. It's more intimidating on almost every level than Cubasis.

My honest suggestion is to press on with Cubasis 3 and if it ends up not having features that you need, then check if Auria Pro has those features or ask around about other apps that have that feature.

  • I don't use midi, so this might not be much help.

I have a lot of good things to say about Auria for audio tracking/editing/mixing.....if you stick to 44k sample rate and don't need to use audiobus. I can't hear the difference between my 44k and 48k recordings so the former is not an issue for me, but I feel like the latter might become a dealbreaker if other DAWs start handling Auria's strengths better. Right now, things are going smoothly and I'm back in love with it after a brief stint with crackling audio while tracking in 48k.

The main iOS 14 issue that I know of is that it simply doesn't work with Audiobus because AP hasn't updated some things related to current AB sdk and a new iOS permissions scheme that impacts AB/Auria communication.

Additionally if one is using iOS 14.2 (and only 14.2), CoreMidi is disabled.

  • I have found Audio Evolution Mobile is one of the easiest to use MIDI/audio apps on iOS. I spent a fair bit of money to find that out.

Something funny just dawned on me as I read this. Around this time last year, I was using GarageBand with only my iPhone and apple earphones as a “studio”. I remember wanting to transition into Cubasis and feeling so intimidated by it, having no experience with an actual DAW. I put in countless hours researching and stressing to learn every little detail about the app as well as production/mixing in general before I went ahead and finally caved in and bought it. Fast forward to April of this year and I’ve found myself being too limited inside of Cubasis and treading into the beast of Auria Pro. Not to mention somewhat of an actual home studio to go along with it.

Sometimes it’s nice to take a step back and appreciate how far you’ve come.
