I‘d rather have an iDevice with no headphone socket than anything that runs Win10![>:) >:)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/naughty.png)
The USB communication thing isn‘t that easy... otherwise someone would have released a multichannel solution long ago. The basic USB tech docs exceed 1k pages and practically all interface manufacturers outsource that part of the product to specialists.
I run an ic4+ with my windows laptop, it’s mostly great, apart from the windows bit - every time they sneak an update past me, I end up spending a few hours fixing the power management and real time stuff so that ableton will still play back without crackling...
I find more and more that windows based gear looks great on paper but is deeply flawed in real world use, and unfortunately many of us are stuck with it because of the deep legacy of code and products that use it...
Surprisingly, iConnectivity as launched AUDIO4c, which comes to refresh this range of devices: https://www.iconnectivity.com/audio4c
Good news, I guess!
@alvescarlos
OMG the marketing video at that link!
Entertaining if a bit distracting. Still don't know if it does what I want it to do, but I can't make myself watch it again. But wait, there is more!
I wonder if they’ve sorted out the software this time? I never did get Auracle to work, and that matrix was... counter intuitive. To me, anyway. I know a lot of other people are very happy with the previous iteration. (Shout out to @Krupa
) Hard to tell from that video, but it looks like the only new bits are on the ports side? Adding usb c...
quick update : just checked the specs on the website and the new unit has dispensed with the bespoke IOS lightning charging cable, offering only USB C to C and C to A cables in the box. From the website:
“ Got a USB-C-equipped Android phone or tablet? Then you’ll love AUDIO4c! Connect your device and charge simultaneously! iOS users with USB-C equipped devices can enjoy the same flexible connectivity and workflow too.* In fact, it will even simultaneously charge a compatible USB-C equipped tablet or phone while they’re plugged in!
*Apple Lightning to USB camera adapter is required for iOS devices with lightning connectors”
I’m calling this a good thing, because those cables seemed to the source of a lot of failures and Apple-update related difficulties previously.
Good to see them finally launch a new version. I may have to get myself one of these!
Oh that's nice, I wonder / hope if / that the software might work with the old one![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Mrs. Sawiton said “okay”. I’ll report back soon.
LOL, the infomercial... Great they decided to continue these types of devices. I own a secondhand iConnect audio 2+ and I really love the device. Could anyone extract the information how many virtual audio channels you have got?
Fantastic news. The software looks way better in the screenshots too. Wonder if it works with the old hardware ?
I only wish they had added ADAT in the new unit for additional inputs. Glad to see a new version of this. ICA4+ is awesome.
Auracle X does not support 10in/10out audio channels. I'm now running 8/8 but it changes the routing in real-time based on the mode you have selected: Record, Play USB 1, Play USB 2, Stream.
Clunky, IMO, but it does work and it is supported on macOS 11. iConfig works as well as it ever did but only in low-res mode.
