this is related in a sense....but I have gotten all my loops in multiple places which is taking up disk space. I currently have 6 gigs of drum loops in Audioshare and The Files App. Is it necessary to have them in both locations or will they eventually serve a purpose? I just do not wan to use up dusk space unless I need to.
You won't be using up additional disk space by having copies of the files in more than one place. The iOS file system doesn't actually physically copy the files, it just makes a "pointer" to the first instance of a file. If you observe the overall storage size before and after a large copy, it generally will not change. (If you add up the individual apps it will, but that isn't the actual storage). Confusing I know, but true.
Still, having the copies in both AudioShare and in the file system doesn't generally serve any purpose. Having them in AudioShare gives you the benefit of the nice preview system and editing/conversion tools there, but can have a few minor drawbacks**. Also, as has been mentioned before, if you want synchronization of your library between devices (and regularly have internet access), storing them in a folder on iCloud is the way to go.
** For instance, Drambo can't import whole folders from AudioShare, only single samples.
@wim that is news to me about the file system, and great news at that. Every time I export a file from one app to another I get a little worried
Thank you yea i have them in the icloud too
The only exception I know of is if you use the WebDAV server in Drambo to bring files into it from the same device. In that case a physical copy is made. Most people won't import into Drambo from places on the local device using WebDAV though, I expect.
There's a short article on the Wiki with a bit more information and some links to learn more. It's more of a stub than a full resource. One of these days I will stop being lazy and flesh it out.
Anyone know the difference between “cut pad” and “clear pad” on the bank page. I can’t figure it out, both seem to delete the sample and any note data associated, unless I’ve missed something
Cut pad puts it in a buffer so that you can paste it onto another pad if you want.
Nice but isn’t there also a “copy pad”? Unfortunately this is not explained fully in the manual
I’m so confused wrapping my head around all of this. I have all my files in audioshare but I can’t figure out how to get them all into the files app. I thought I did but I don’t and I just can’t figure out how to get them over there
Copy pad does the same but doesn't clear the pad. It's just like cut / copy / paste when editing text.
A couple things potentially at play. Is audioshare visible as it’s own... uhh.. area?
Are the files potentially within the ‘iTunes File Sharing’ folder in audioshare? They should just be placed in the root of the audioshare Library....
You don't really need to.
If you don't see "AudioShare Files" under Locations at the left of the files app, Tap the circle with three dots in it at the top right of the left hand panel. Then tap Edit. You should see AudioShare as disabled. Enable it. Now AudioShare will appear as any other folder.
If AudioShare isn't enabled in the files app:

Tap Edit then enable AudioShare:

Thank you! Now I’m my way I’m learning more and more about BeatMaker at the same time, in fact thank you to you for all your help, I’m inching closer and closer every day

Either double-tap a sample to import it and you'll be returned to BM3. If you don't want to import a sample then swipe up from the middle of the bottom of the screen. You should get the task bar, where you can select the BM3 icon.
There are other ways to deal with this as well.
nvm. Guess you figured it out yourself.
question...now there is an option to load a synth within bm3, so i loaded it so how to i find it, it seems to be playable but i do not seeit for editing or adjusting patches, also if this works as it appears to...doesn't it mean using bm3 that AB serves no purpose for me?
forget that above reply OMG BM3 is the greatest app I have every come across! this app is the freakin bomb 4 real ya know what im sayin
Right after you load the app you should see a big ol' grayed out icon smack in the middle of the screen. Tap it.
Or ... look for the little piano icon near the bottom left-hand side of the screen. Tap that.
You can benefit a lot from watching a few YouTube videos to help you get started.
Generally, no, you don't need Audiobus and BM3 together. There are some cases where it can be useful to get around limitations, but generally when you're in a DAW you don't need Audiobus to tie things together.
Actually, I watched some echoopera and henny videos today and none of them used step recording. They are guys that generally drop samples into the timeline and perform apps as instruments. Maybe you were just out of luck on the ones you watched
As you find videos, it would be great if you could ask a couple of minutes to add them to the wiki page:
https://wiki.audiob.us/doku.php?id=beatmaker_3
Ebowmusicstudios is an amazing channel to learn stuff . Guy is an amazing producer as well as teacher .
@eni_ott ENI On The Track has excellent content and every video has gems in it. Do yourself a favor and run through a few vids, you’ll save yourself so much time
Good one. Always forget about adding to the wiki
Henny already had a good one there. Besides that, if i'm not wrong the two first in the Silent Beatmaking series he focuses on BM3.
Added two of Echo's, one regarding Audio Tracks and the other about sending midi to Gadget and recording the audio back to BM3. Trying to keep the video contents not overlapping so we don't end up generating option overload
im messing with cubasis, so how would i get audio files from the files app into cubasis? I keep messing with cubasis because im finding that a lot of the synths are working with my launchpad but with bm3 that is just not the case and to be completely honest since i have slept i feel like i have forgot everything
quick question on cubasis....when i want to go back to the very beginning and ant to start the track and I have tom keep hittng the back button over and over is there a button to just go to the very start?
Click Media (upper left corner), then Import (at the bottom), then you can select where to import from (Audio share, iTunes or Files app)
The imported audio files will appear in the Media/Audio/My Audio Files folder in Cubasis. You can drag and drop from here to your timeline into an audio track (which needs to be created first of course).
Btw Cubasis has a quite good embedded manual (click Help), it is worth to read through.
