Sampling external sources
Hi guys. I like to use the iPad standalone for easy and fast workflow, sketches, or just some noodling around, but sometimes I want to use external gear or an audio interface for line in sampling. I also like to use the iPad in bed or on the couch but it's kind of annoying to disconnect and reconnect everything all the time when switching locations.
How do the people who make music away from their desk handle this? I would love to have an easy solution for line in sampling, without having the chain of cck adapter into powered usb hub into audio interface into cables into my sample source.
Any good solution? Or generally thoughts on that topic? How do you guys sample external stuff?

When I sample, I just have my interface plugged into the CCK. My interface doesn’t require additional power.
I really can't think of any way to sample in via line in without being plugged in? If you have a ton of money to throw around you could try some kind of wireless transmit/receive setup like they use for wireless guitars and mics on stage I guess.
There's the SonoBus system in development that can send audio from a desktop computer to your iPad. I supposed you could plug everything into the computer then send over wiFi, but it's subject to quite a bit of latency and is a bit of trouble to set up.
Sorry - there is no magic bullet here.
Sample from YouTube or any other streaming audio or video source by using your devices screen capture feature. Endless samples...
Came here to mention this.
Not exactly what you asked... but whole bag full of fun surprises. archive.org is loaded with materials
Or you could record and sample in other places/sessions and drop them into google drive or dropbox
The wireless options can give you a bit of latency too, depending on the setup
Depends a lot on how mobile, portable and remote you need to be. I do a lot of field recording - birds and the like - I use a little tascam digital recorder myself. And a pocket full of rechargeable batteries. But if you're going to do a lot of it a 20,000 ma battery pack with a couple of outputs is a worthwhile investment.

I would like to reduce the steps. I've found a post stating that you can use a headset aux cable into headphone jack. I tried it yesterday with mine and it worked, but the quality was kinda bad and there were audio spikes.
So a good headset cable might solve my problem, then I could connect my phone into cable into ipad.
Yeah I've been doing it with the screen recording method, but I am spoiled from hardware with direct line in sampling. Loading a Browser into AUM could work, haven't tried that yet.
I tested my headset cable again and it seems to work fine.
