Sequencing chords step by step and in real time
Hi all,
As a guitarist I'm on the market for an app which ill help me creating and playing chord sequences in asynth for recording them into DAWs.
Since certain chords are hard for me to play on a keyboard in real time, but I don't want to be obliged to enter boring sequences of chords step by step and then edit their lenght or their offset (in relationship to the time line) as the only input method, I'm looking for an app which basically let me freely create a sequence of chords (and why not a melody) by using real time for the easiest material, and switch to the sbs way when things get harder to play. The app would then drive a sound generator via MIDI.
It hasn't to be a complete sequencer, a very good "chord player" would do thejob I guess but, OTOH, a sequencer would allow me to edit notes and their time placement the same app, probably making things easier for me.
Any suggestion from the group?

Chord Poly Pad would be my recommendation, really easy to edit chords and a great interface with lots of midi control options. https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/chordpolypad-midi-chords-player/id694599930?mt=8
B-Step Sequencer, and there's a free version to test. You can also do this with Xynthesizr.
Chordbot - easy to use but no virtual midi (has its own built in sound generator). To edit notes or generate your own sounds you'll have to export a midi file and then import it into another sequencer.
Agree on ChordPolyPad as the best of the bunch.
If you have Cubasis chord pads are built in and configurable.
Magellan can do this kind of thing if I understood your question correctly. Not sure if it will be able to control another synth but it may be worth a try. Chordion is another app that comes to mind, it even gives you a sort of keyboard that will adapt a scale to whatever chord you are playing and it can control other synths.
Chordpolypad thirded - it has a lot of control, can also be expressive with velocity, easy to set up.
Changeling is getting a update soon for iOS 7.1. Something different to consider.
As mentioned above, ChordPolyPad is the king of these type of apps - $11.99 U.S. but universal and just gives you so much flexibility. It can also single notes or customized chords you set with that keyboard on the bottom (you cannot "play" the keyboard like a synth - it's a virtual midi controller, albeit with a few internal sounds)

If that's too much for you initially, Chordion is $3.99 and has a lot of the same functionality. It even has basic arppegiator and drum machine built in too, though those are side features. At first I thought it had only basic chords, but it actually has a huge library of more obscure chord formations. And you can map that vertical dial thing to play notes from the chord you selected, or simply a particular scale that you designate.

Xynthesizer (also $3.99) is possibly even more versatile. Note that it's more of a sequencer, but you can make chords with it too. Just don't expect it to spell out for you what the chord presets are, as you can't select a "G7" chord from a list, like you can in the prior two apps. But you can make a G7 (or any chord) by selecting its component notes.

Guys,
thanks a lot for your suggestions and hints
I'll start checking the apps you've mentioned ASAP!
TBH, I was not aware all of them allow recording and saving a sequence. Too bad most apps' documentation is unsufficient, to say the least
I'll be back for further questions when I am more into it if you don't mind
