Shimmer Delay Ambient Machine by Nembrini Audio

https://apps.apple.com/app/id1559249944

Description:

Based on creative techniques developed by studio engineers and producers in the early 1980s, Shimmer Delay Ambient Machine combines reverb, pitch shifting, and feedback to create out-of- this-world soundscapes and spaces.

Great for guitars, keys, synths, samples, and vocals, Shimmer Delay Ambient Machine promotes getting lost in creative production and electronic music facets of the ambient spectrum.

Swell crescendo means to start at a low volume and then swell to a much louder level, which is similar the sound of a violin being bowed. Now you get those sweeping swells from your guitar using the auto swell section of the Shimmer Delay Ambient Machine.

The Shimmer Delay Ambient Machine user interface is designed with an emphasis on user control and playability.

Shimmer Delay Ambient Machine has been designed to be tweaked in real time. All of the sliders have a smoothed response, to avoid clicks when changing settings or automating the controls. At the same time, the algorithm has been highly optimized, so you get a huge delay sound without straining your CPU.

Works as a standalone app, AudioUnit v3 effect, or Inter-App Audio effect

  • Description sounds really good, and by looking at the interface I would say that they put most of the budget of developing the sound engine and not the graphics for the app

  • Will get ASAP. As I am an ambient muck lover 😜 is there a difference between shimmer reverb and shimmer delay?

Light on resources, all parameters exposed in AUM.

I still need to figure out what the ‚Swell‘ section does.

Edit: „ Swell: Auto volume swell section commonly used with the electric guitar which is similar the sound of a violin being bowed.“

This doesn’t really clear things up.

I'd guess it's an auto-volume. Like an auto-wah but with volume.

Like a steel guitar player uses a volume pedal.

    Edit:
Basically, use an envelope follower to trigger an ADSR to control the volume envelope. But the ADSR is set to pretty much follow the input signal level in the sustain section.

  • I wonder how this compares with FAC Alteza, Eventide Crystals, and WIMSS Woodulator...

I certainly resisted. But I only have the Vox amp. Much prefer TH-U since easy clean sounds are also attainable. I did get a really fun enjoyable overblown trackout of Quinta though.

  • @oat_phipps i just picked up TH-U full recently, and the Vox. Both sound very great. TH-U is more plug and play for me than my Nembrini AUM chain.

I resisted Quinta only because I have a bunch of micro pitchers and qvoxers and others that I never use. Harmony Eight seems the king, but a bit cpu heavy.

  • Might have to get this.

    Thank you sir!

  • Oh, I’m going to make this mofo scream

  • Would love to hear more samples of what this can do. Seems like it’s in the same territory as IceGear’s Yukawa multi-tap delay effect?

  • I don’t think I would compare it with Yukawa too much but I definitely like it so far, it takes a little getting used to initially, particularly the swell section, i might end up making a vid on it

It is is very versatile. I’m liking it so much. Good job @NembriniAudio

  • Liking it so far on guitar.

  • I heard Yukawa because I could hear taps in their demo. I’m interested in swells that don’t sound like tap delays, if you catch my drift. This one does that?

Idk, I think it looks hi tech. Like modern with a retro touch.

I bought it. The knobs are incredibly detailed and very responsive to the touch.

How is that a proper ad for this app? It demonstrates almost none of the features mentioned, other than some delay with a little shimmer on the guitar. Just bizarre. Why not use the time to really demonstrate some features? I’m not convinced this is worth getting based on that video, but if Gavinski demos it I might consider it then.

I bought it sound unheard as soon as I saw “Nembrini” and all the colorful knobs.

    Yup, it sounds amazing!

  • This looks like the shizz

Doesn't show up in AUM as an AU effect...

I had to restart the iPad for it to show up. Weird. Why?

Restart your iPad. It should show up afterwards.

Yup. I don't remember having to do this for any other apps.... It's working and I like the out-of-the-box setting. I'll play with the controls to learn more.

This happens from time to time. Annoying, but just one of those iOS things.

Don't sound like tap delays in what way Luke?
