Any AUM Mixer experts here?
Got a question about the "midi ins" - as in sending data to AUM from another App.
Which is the connection to use?
1. AUM Destination
2. Network Session 1
3. (the app, which shows as) Unrealbook Virtual
I had this working yesterday, and iirc this needs to be set at the start of each AUM session...now, again iirc, I set it to AUM Destination, but as I wrote above, today it doesn't work?
Comments
What you choose in AUM depends on what you choose in the other app. If you choose AUM as the destination in Unrealbook, then choose AUM Destination in AUM. If you send out from Unrealbook on it's own virtual port, then choose Unrealbook in AUM. Make 'em match and it should work.
There should never be any reason to use Network Session and it won't work anyway without some other app such as MidiFire in-between.
in Unrealbook, there is NO option for choosing...the dev reckons the app "listens" for all possible connections and connects with no user input.
OK cool re Network, it's sort a kinda what I was thinking but it's good to get that confirmed!
I had AUM Destination working yesterday, but today, no go....I have no idea of the reason...I just turned off the iPad, turned back on this morning set the AUM destination again in AUM and....it didn't work
Can you post a screenshot of your midi routing matrix in AUM? That would help a bunch.
I am sending from UB to AUM only, ie one way.
That's a start, but it doesn't show the routing matrix so it doesn't answer many questions.
Probably you need a route between Unrealbook along the top of the routing matrix to PureSynth on the right-hand side. What are you sending to PureSynth? Is it program changes for choosing patches? Or?
yeah PC messages....haha, sorry I can do a pic of that too I misunderstood what you wanted to look at...not sure how I can make them smaller though, I'll try.
You don’t have any route from Ultrabook to PureSynth. The only way you can control something is if you set up a route to it.
Try tapping the square at the intersection of Utraboiok on the top and PureSynth on the right. There should be a line connecting them like you have between the key lab and PureSynth.
haha, yeah I KNOW that! I was just showing you what connections there are on the system
haha, don't worry too much, I have come up with an alternative hardware solution for this arvos gig, but I think I might go to using a mini pc (NUC probably) and running either Reaper (with a really cool plugin for running live sets and setups) or Cantabile - this whole iPad experiment is just too flaky for live work. I mean working one day and not the next with the same setup (took notes too to make sure it was the same) is just doing my head in tbh...
Thanks again for taking the time though, much appreciated!
