  • Love this synth.

I'm assuming/hoping it will come soon? I just logged into my Arturia account and I see I can crossgrade to Pigments for 69 USD. This must have come from my keyboard purchase(s) as I've never bought any Arturia software. Seems too good a deal to resist.

Haven't had any issues with Collection V or Pigments on my M1, so don't be too worried about it. Not running natively on M1 but Rosetta 2 does an amazing job.

Brilliant. Thanks so much for that info. Hard to say no now!

I've just gone for the €69 cross grade, very happy so far, not least for the MPE capabilities of Pigments.

Here's a way to get things cheaper by spending more money (I think that's what they call "man-maths"):

I got my reduced price after getting Analog Lab V Intro 'free' with Mimu's Glover. In an "old lady who swallowed the fly" story, I got Glover to use Mimu's Gliss iOS app (both amazing). Then a Leap motion controller to use with Glover, and now Pigments to use on its own or in Analog Lab V with Glover/Gliss and all. I've just spent a joyful hour waving my hands around playing some motion controlled Pigments presets in Analog Lab. I'm not seeing all of the Pigments factory presets, presumably as I'm still on Analog Lab Intro (€69 offer to upgrade that to the full version), but more than enough to get me going. Seems though that I can create and save my own Pigments presets with no problem in Analog Lab V intro (which are then available back in Pigments itself).

Glover is astonishingly well designed as a piece of gesture/motion control software, but relatively expensive at around £120 (the companion Gliss iOS app is free). I got a 30% off prompt when the free 14 day trial was running out, so worth hanging out for that. Good decision by Arturia to bundle in with Mimu, I'm another €69 lighter, but looking forward to discovering more of what Pigments can do (laptop now back in the game with my iPad and Studiomux).

  • @steve99 Good call on trial discount for Glover. Might go for that. I have a Leap Motion sitting around.

  • The new Harmonic Engine in Pigments 3 is excellent - rich, crystalline additive sound, and the bundled presets are really rich. I'm amazed at Arturia's generosity in giving away 2 free major upgrades - I bought v1 and they just keep adding new stuff.

The Utility engine with its wide selection of noise types mirrors the similar feature in Massive X, and I wonder if they're keeping an eye on developments at Native Instruments? I always thought that the (unusually) sketchy rollout of the Native Instruments synth was contrasted with the flawless rollout of Pigments. I hope Massive X has caught up with its promise since, but I haven't been following that story.

  • I contacted Arturia about M1 support and they said it is being worked on but couldn't give a timeframe. Can I ask if others are using this successfully on an M1 via Rosetta? Thanks for your confirmation @Peblin !

Up-thread someone said that it worked fine. A few moments on Google finds people saying that they haven't encountered any issues.

  • This sale finally got me to cave in on this synth, and now I have too many.😅
It’s really fun to play, watching the envelope and aftertouch HUDs bounce around is delightful. As such my ears don’t mind the raw sound of this synth, and after doing the things I do to audio it will more than work for my needs. I wouldn’t constant comment after a few hours with anything or argue to justify $pent, but Pigments is impressive (at first) and (might be) totally worth the binge.
BTW, Anyone else sprinkled with 2x serials?

  • Pigments is a great synth. Very powerful and capable of a wide range of sounds. I use it for floaty ambient plucks all the way to screaming dubstep basses.

  • Cool! Heading to update right now!

I'm feeling the burn  Just seeing if any other kind souls on the forum had experience with it on the M1.

  • managed to pick it up for $50 USD... absolutely amazing synth!

Glad that was useful to someone. If you have a Leap already it's definitely worth it. Glover is one of the most elegantly designed bits of software I've ever used. I tried Glover and Leap direct to Pigments yesterday, really great. I remapped some controls from the Leap/Analog Lab Glover preset to the macros in Pigments, really quick to do and the results are still making me smile.

Only thing to note is the Glover example presets auto-launch the app to be controlled (Analog Labs in this case). You need to manually quit that or make your own preset to use elsewhere (say to Pigments, or to plugin in DAW). They are very good starting points though.

How did you get it that low? I’m seeing the $69 but fifty flat would definitely be irresistible...

  • it's one of the best synths out there, but it's always been quite laggy on all of my machines.

I can get it for $50 plus the new Spectrum included for free. I think it’s because I own the FX Collection.

Agree - some wonderful sounds, but it can be CPU hungry even on my fairly powerful laptop. The fact that most pad presets are set to polyphony of 4 or 6 is quite revealing! The level of analogue modelling involved does really pound the CPU sometimes.

But it can sound incredible so it's a price worth paying.

  • Has anyone tried using it in Logic running natively on M1?
I'm reading about Reason Rack, which currently works only in Rosetta, and they say that the DAW needs to run in Rosetta as well

I don't know about Reason Rack, but Pigments (and other plugs from Arturia, KOMPLETE 12, SoundToys, Izotope) runs fine under Logic running natively on the M1.

This little helpful process seem to be the enabler... It's also the one that takes the CPU load when I play Pigments so I guess it's some kind of M1 AU that wraps Intel AUs in Rosetta.

The only compatibility issue I've had so far with M1 (with Ableton 11 and Logic) is Massive X that won't even install as it uses Intel-CPU specific instructions that somehow can't be emulated in Rosetta.

Disclaimer: I'm a casual user and have not done super-extensive testing. But tbh my Ableton Live 11 feels more stable on the M1 than my Live 10 ever did on my "old" 2016 MBP.

  • Great software from a very generous company.

    Well done Arturia 👍

Ok, thanks a lot for confirming. I don't have M1 mac yet, just thinking about getting one and don't wanna waste money on plugins that are not supported yet

  • Nothing comparable to Pigments on iOS?

Synthmaster is the only thing that comes close out of the box or roll your own using Drambo. This one that I made in Drambo comes pretty close to my ideal wavetable synth.
