Should I update my old air iPad Air 2 from 13.1.2 to 14.4.2 ?
I have held off updating my Air 2 for fear of it slowing down or other unknowns LOL. Right now it either serves as an AUM session with a handful of synths or an AUM session with the launchpad app, either session hooked into old launchpad pro and it works fine. Sometimes I use Air 2 as an Ableton Live touch controller. Everything seems fine still on 13.1.2 even though some apps I’ve purchased for my iPad Pro12.9 running 14.4.2 I can’t get or don’t work right on Air 2 13.1.2.
So....anyone updated their old iPad Air 2 to latest 14.4.2 with success? Please share your thoughts, thanks!

You've not described anything that would benefit from the update. Normally it's good to keep up with iOS updates for future proofing, and occasionally if there's some killer feature. There are no killer feature updates in 14. But it's still good to keep up when you can.
However, in this case there is reason not to. There's a problem where intermittently all the AUv3's go missing, as though you have none installed, until you do a full device reboot. For some people it happens often, for others rarely or not at all. To my knowledge there's never been any indication Apple acknowledges the problem or has planned a fix.
So, in the absence of a reason to update, and in the presence of a known very annoying bug with no ETA for a fix ... I'm not doin' it.
That is reason enough for me to stay put with my Air 2...as it is still great and a great tool...thanks man!
Definitely, if your iOS ain't broken don't fix it
In the past I had a iPad mini 2 and updated it from iOS 12 to 13 with minimal benefits but with a noticeable loss of performance.
Mt iPad Air one is frozen at IOS 7.0
I have the old version of some nice apps including Gadget
Must be quite an experience to take a glance at it when using in par the current version of technology.
That's almost a museum item.
Soon you will be able to sell it for big buck to some Apple collectors
Perhaps but the AIR 1 has KORG Gadget, Auria PRO, Audiobus, Audioshare, Cubasis etc.
This was Inter App Audio per AUv3 revolution...
I would make all the music in KORG Gadget and polish them in Aria Pro
I also have a 12.9 2020 looking at getting the new M1 so I have been keeping up with current events..LOL!
