Different Drummer now working on M1 MacBook Air

I realize I'm in the minority who might care about this, but I'm pretty stoked about it.

Maybe in minority but you're not the only one.......it's pretty cool to see these IOS apps working in the M1 Mac's. Even Drambo works under MacOS M1

I tried it yesterday and it worked. But I have to admit, I did not test it in detail.

I get a crash when I load Atom or Helium in standalone Drambo on Mac and try to scroll. Was pleased today when model 15 loaded in the Mac version of Reaper though.

Has anyone got the Lumbeats apps to run on Mac? They seem to download but not open and also iBassist wants me to buy it again on the store so I can’t even download that one.

Different Drummer is an iOS app. When I first got my M1 MacBook Air I tried to run it, but it didn’t work. I reached out to the dev to see if he had any plans to get it to work. He thought it was a good idea. I haven’t heard back from him, but I decided to give it another try, and it’s working now. Now I need to see if it works with Logic and other Mac apps.

  • We should have a list of apps that work on M1's in our Wiki, I think.
This will be a constant Frequently Asked Question:

"If I get a MacBook, Mac Mini what IOS apps will just run on day one without re-purchasing?"

I'm expecting the "backed up" app to be closed at some point to protect developers from
having to change/support the app for the M1 user when they never intended to do so.
It should be a developer opts in since it adds a support burden without any new revenue.
    Just my opinion.

  • Good idea @McD. I’ve also gotten BS-16i to work along with a few others that I can’t remember.

  • I like Different Drummer, but never use it. The concept is great, but the interface is so frustrating to use. I would love to see the UI of this app get an overhaul.

Agreed. I would like to see the dev come out with a separate app that scales back some of the functionality and improves the usability. Including AU hosting would be good too. The concept is amazing to me. I've mentioned it before, but this is the only app that I've seen use waves for rhythm, rather than sound formation. Here's an example in case anyone is interested:

That would be ideal - it’s just too cluttered and over-engineered as it is.

  • Tried some more today, Groovebox and Beatonal both working nicely plus old favourite Yellofier. Restored IAPs in Groovebox as well.

  • Moog Model 15 also works.
