NLog Synth Pro got an update???!!!!
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/nlogsynth-pro/id393879841
One of my first and favorite iPad synths finally got an update and it’s an au now..wow, didn’t see this ever happening 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I always loved the way this sounded, I thought it was down for the count lol

I had never heard of this one and bought it, don't know why. Might suffering from compulsive buying disorder. Anyway, I like it and it's so light. I added 10 copies in AUM and some plug-ins (like Bleass granualar *4 and a few Eventide) on each and dsp didn't go over to any worrying levels. Very cool indeed. The automation does not animate so there's maybe one answer to low consumption but It would be nice to see the knobs and faders move when assigned automation, I think or maybe it's better to listen
Wow had forgotten about this. Now reinstalled - must have bought back in the day - and sounds great through effects in AUM
It’s a great app but the new version is crashing as soon as I play a note with a keyboard (for example the keyboard in AUM). Surprisingly it works when using something like Aphelian...
That's my experiences as well. Pretty shaky especially when editing patches in the AUv3...
...I can't create the crashes in the stand alone and in the AUv3 they are pretty 'random'.
(I'll try with some other hosts at some point, could be an AUM only issues as well).
As far as I know crashing AUv3's do not generate any log-files which is a bummer...
Uh-Oh, that’s how it started for the rest of us too.
You’re right- it’s now crashing on me constantly in AUM. Damn- it’s sounding great
Wow! Thanks for posting this. So strange, I came across this in the app store just over the past weekend and I almost bought it but I was worried it may not be functional once I saw how old it is and how long it had been. After reading your post, i wasted no time however. Completely blown away at how good this sounds and what a clean setup it is. May have myself a new favorite! Unreal that this thing has been out so long.
Thanks again!!
Ha ha ha, I'm already on the far far side of over buying. Actually been pretty cool a while, since Apple denied me a refund (thank you Apple, you have no idea how much you saved me by annoying me .. )
Have you checked out Rolf’s Waldorf Iridium?
Wowzers!
Maybe reboot? IM not having any issues with NLog and AUM but ID700 started crashing every time I touched it after the last update and worked fine after I rebooted my IPad. I do t know if it will work but worth a shot.
I love this synth. Yes it’s unstable in AUM (iPad Pro 10.5” iOS 14.5), also impossible to view the UI in portrait mode. I’m sure it’ll get cleaned up, Rolf is usually on top of things but it’s been a while since he did anything iOS related 🤷♂️
I'm running iPadOS 13.7 on a 5th Gen Base iPAD. No crashes for me in AUM.. yet.
I wonder if the crashing is an iPadOS 14 thing?
And, if the latest OS 14.5 might be better?
I like this App.
It even has a built-in MIDI recorder in the Standalone App w/ adjustable loop markers, Midi output, and Midi File saving. This is the first iOS synth I've used that has a built-in Midi Recorder.
I did! I even own it since 6 months......
It's such a wonderful synth. You can even import Nave patches.
@Samu @cuscolima I'm on 14.5 and an AIR 3. Not a crash, in stand alone or inside AUM. So strange. In the short clip you can see all ten are connected to midistep and some of them to my Akai MPK mini.
Sorry can't upload the gif animation, it's 11Mb and it's all of a sudden too big??
I’m wondering if it’s OS related as well, I’m on a 2020 12.9 IPad Pro running 13.7 and I’ve had no issues with it in AUM
We've added our post simultaneously but as you can see above I'm on 14.5 and have no issues either.
Wow! That’s awesome! What’s your favorite feature?
Bought it and I’m getting some nice sounds out of it, but I really do not like the preset manager and especially the Save function, which does not perform as one would expect. I’ll have to read up on it if there’s any support documentation, however when I pick an empty spot for a new sound, it should not overwrite all of the other open spots in the User area. Not cool.
NLog is crashing in BM3 for me.
Indeed a very good sounding synth but it's Midi CC mappings seems to be inactive in Cubasis 3.
Particle (Sampling and Granular Sampling). And the FM Kernel.
When you're in the 'save tab' you can pick a slot to save the preset to and then tap 'save'(top right) in the 'window' and give it a name. Took me a while to sort it out when nLog was released way back in time
Very cool ! Even after years still one of best sounding synths on iOS, yet still super CPU friendly
Yes, I did that and it overwrote every slot in the User area, including some custom sounds I had previously saved. Really badly designed UI for preset management.
Can confirm it does seem to overwrite other saved user presets when saving a new one, but when I quit and restart NLog all the previous saved ones are there. Strange but try it. Hopefully it’ll be a quick fix 🤞🏼
Migrating to 14.5 didn’t solve the problem for me. Oh well…
I can save patches on my 13.7 iPad... but I have to tap "Return" using the on-screen-keyboard in order to get a patch to write.
So far... My top issue in the standalone App is: I'm apparently not able to take a factory mono patch like "Key & Pads" --> "Noog" and turn it into a "Poly" patch. (I can change the Mode to Poly in the standalone App, but it doesn't do anything). However, I can use the mode control to switch a patch from Poly to Mono and back again, and that works fine.
I can't find any Poly/Mono setting in the AU at all.
All things considered, I like the sounds and the basic old-school subtractive synth programing layout.
You have to go to the system page and turn off unisono to make a mono patch poly
Cool. Thanks for your help with that!
It works for changing Mono<-->Poly in both the AU and the Standalone.
