Nice
Sitting in your house in Land's End looking out the window (at nothing of course) and listening to this must be quite the feeling. 👍
gui is awesome...sounds good too
Cool, looks like an easy programmable yet powerful FM synth.
Nice

Lovely sound to that
Easier is better when it comes to FM synths.
AU, I hope...
4 OP fm, judging the screenshots on the website this looks very approachable, looking forward to this. Excellent GUI art btw.
Hope it supports tx81z sysex and waveforms. Bleass Omega is great but only sine waves like Yamaha FB01, however it has benefit of a filter, distortion, and more.
I really love the look and feel of all his apps, but being siloed and stand alone makes them unusable to me and my workflow. I wish he'd change this model for his products.
Yea this looks and sounds dope, but have to agree with @echoopera
Maybe someone could reach out on Instagram and mention it…
I have a few of his apps and as far as I know, they’re all at least IAA and Audiobus compatible. Would love if they were AU though. His grooveboxes are insanely fun and unique.
Unless I'm mistaken it says that this will be AUv3 on that Twitter screen grab. Hope so anyway.
I hope this is some kind of FM geared towards experimental droneyness like that demo, no more DX style basses and pianos please.
FM comatose ambient brilliance (when you're way too high):
Agreed! Like a simplified Aparillo.
Would love some clever Dev to disguise an FM synth as a subtractive analogue. My tiny brain could cope with this![:D :D](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/lol.png)
I see it has a sequencer. Paul should implement this in his Synthdrum Kick app as well.
I was under the impression that the groovebox apps like AN1 Analogue Groovebox along with WT1 and FM 304 had No connectivity. There’s none listed in the App Store descriptions but are you saying these are IAA?
Yes! Check the update history, it’ll show where IAA/Audiobus was added![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Amazing - thanks for pointing this out.
I’m baffled as to why this capability isn’t listed in the main Description per app but regardless great to know it’s there.
Liked the second Droney clip. I’ve got his other apps, they’ve all been great. Fingers crossed for this one. @Proppa : I had a correspondence with Paul re the grooveboxes shortly after their release and was able to persuade him to add the IAA interconnectivity. They work just fine inside AUM.
Why are Paul’s apps so overlooked, there is hardly any reviews to find on the stuff he does. I just discovered the WT1 – Wavetable Groovebox on his site, and indeed it seems IAA, not mentioned on his site. But no reviews, nothing, just a short demo vid on his site. I can’t seem to find a manual as well. It’s just 3 bucks.. is it any good?
(Not to mention his AN1 Analogue Groovebox, only 1 low quality video. All the work that has been put in these things, zero publicity). https://designbypaul.co.uk/app_select.html
@Slush : They are overlooked I think because of the still limited connectivity. Originally, it was strictly screen grab only, but then as mentioned above he added IAA. No Ableton Link or other sync option though. Best to think of them as little sequence/loop producing gizmos rather than a typical full performance synth app, but within that limitation, well…
…I’m a big fan, the synths are all very tweakable and sound great. You can’t sync the sequencers in the apps to anything, but they do run just fine inside AUM, and you can use AUM’s tap tempo if vaguely normal song construction is more your thing. Doesn’t bother me, that’s not how I work.
You don’t really need a manual. Five minutes noodling with them and you’ll understand how it all runs. They are all very intuitive, and because you can set different lengths for each sequence/instrument inside the app, it’s easy to get polyrhythm magic happening. In fact I think these would actually be a pretty big deal if he did AUV3/Ableton Link versions, but he doesn’t seem interested in that. Still, you can’t argue with the price if you can work with the limitations.
I really love the eccentric sounds you can get with them, and this very thread this morning prompted me to dust off all 3 to make a new thing. (The drums I used on the track are his also-excellent SynthDrum Kick, btw.) Check the result out over on the Creations thread if interested.
@Svetlovska Thanks for this!
So no sync…… why make it IAA without a sync for the sequencer, it puzzles me. Maybe record loops from it might work. I’ll sleep a night over it, the little demo vid made me curious, it sounds really good.
No problem! Happy to inform![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
All three of his Grooveboxes are available as a bundle and just being able to use the internal sequencer and capture output via IAA is great.
Thanks @Svetlovska for nudging Paul towards connectivity for these!
No Audio Unit compatibility these days is a tough sell. A developer needs to offer a minimum of function these days in light of so much competition.
It hard to believe a developer knows their market very well at all if they don't have auv3.
He always knew about it because there have been communications going back a long time. He just chose not to, I think.
