Is FAC Maxima working as normal for you guys right now? SOLVED: Just don’t use 2048 buffer

Today I noticed that FAC Maxima has suddenly stopped passing through any sound if I add it to an FX chain. As soon as I add it everything goes silent, as soon as I bypass it, sound returns. Reinstall did not work. Could someone check and let me know if they are getting the same problem?

  • Fine here on iOS 13.7.

  • Hmm, thanks, I'm in iOS 14.4. Restart also didn't fix things

  • Fine here on iPadOS 14.5

  • Hey Gavinski, just tried it out in AUM in the effects chain and seem to be fine, iOS 14.4 on an iPad Pro 11” 2020. Very strange. I assume it’s not a particular preset? Also tried it in ApeMatrix and NanoStudio too, and no issues.

Fred jast got back to me that it is likely a buffer size issue. It doesn't work in 2048 but other settings are fine. I am not near my device now so can't check that but if you don't hear back from me on this, assume that that was indeed the issue and that it got solved. I remember a day or two ago I was working on a particularly heavy session and whacked the buffer up very high, sounds likely that is the cause

Good catch. There are still quite a few apps around that can’t handle really high buffers like that.

  • Yes - checked and lowering the buffer solved it
