NLogPoly Synth for Mac no longer available

I purchased NLogPoly Synth for Mac quite a few years ago but I wanted to download it for my new Mac but it is no longer available in the Mac App Store. The site where the vst plugins are downloaded is gone too.

Oh wow, I bought it for Mac long ago too… maybe it will become universal soon…

I’m really disappointed because I really liked the NLogPoly synth and created a lot of Elka Synthex style sounds on it and I was looking forward to installing it on my new Mac. I tried searching all my backup drives to see if I saved the AU/vst plugins but it I cannot find them. I was £20 for NLogPoly synth on the Mac App Store and that’s £20 down the drain :(

  • @Artmuzz - out of curiosity I tried the wayback machine to see if anything could still be downloaded.

I got as far as here:
    https://web.archive.org/web/20170629173743/http://temporubato.com/index.php?page=ProdMAC

    and

    https://web.archive.org/web/20170316032649/http://temporubato.com/index.php?page=AU

Maybe the form on the second page might help you find an email from them?

To be honest I do think it might be worth getting in touch with the developer to see if they can send it to you.

This just got a big iOS update last week with AUv3 and a whole new look. E-mail em, but I bet it’ll be universal with Macs before too long. If we’re talkin the same synth by that Rolf guy that is.

I was tempted to fill in the my details on that link you provided to obtain the AU and vst plugins but I doubt it would work as it’s a web archive.

I have emailed the developer asking where I can obtain the AU and vst plugins and awaiting a reply.

I am excited that this could mean that NLog becomes universal on Mac and iOS However, the problem is that if it does become universal it will only work on M1 Macs instead in intel Macs. The new Mac I bought is intel.

Anyway, thanks for all the replies.

  • I bought it for Mac long, long time ago...

Back them we had to send an e-mail to get the plug-in...
Who knows, maybe it will get an update maybe not. In either case I'm ready for it

  • I emailed the developer of NLogPoly Synth a few days ago but I’ve still had no reply from them.

The good news is that I checked an old iMac I had in the attic and fortunately I still had the DMG install file of NLogPoly Synth AU/VST in one of the folders on my old iMac.

The bad news is that the AU and VST won’t load on Ableton Live. When I try to load NLogPoly AU I get the following message “Failed to create the Audio Unit. This Audio Unit is not compatible. Failed to initialize” I don’t know why I’m getting that message. Ableton Live crashes when I try to load the VST version. I am getting the same issue loading them on Logic Pro X.

I had a very similar problem in Live with another old VST. I fixed it by going to the VST plugins folder and changing the file ownership and permissions of that VST to what seemed to work fine for other plugins

Yes that’s how I got it for the Mac.

That sounds promising. Could you show me how to do that?

I decided to check it myself and I couldn't make it work no matter what I tried. The AU isn't even visible as a plugin and the VST crashes Live. The trick, that worked for Blamsoft Viking, didn't work here. Sorry

Maybe because it's a 32-bit plugin and not supported anymore, I don't know for sure

So, NLogPoly Synth AU and vst doesn’t work with you either. It’s a pity there is no way to repair it.

  • As well as being an early adopter of the NLog MIDI synth (iOS, OS X, VST), I have sometime worked as a beta-tester for the NLog developer, both on his own apps, and for other apps he has been involved with.

After I encountered the same issues described in this thread, I contacted him about the OS X app as well as the VST plugins for NLog MIDI - this was the last reply I received:

"the NLog Standalone App and Plugins have been discontinued some years ago. Sorry about this."

No suggestion that they will be updated any time soon.

Such as shame, as the original iOS app is still one of my favourite tools (however I'm not such a fan of the UX/UI revamp the app received...)

If anyone here has a workaround, please share!!!
