BM3 non responsive on iOS 14.5.1
Ever since updating my iPad Pro (11 inch second generation) to iOS 14.5.1 BM3 seem to be non responsive. There are numerous problems.
When I load BM3 it stalls with the spinning wheel on boot screen which results in me having to reboot my iPad Pro.
I am then able to load up BM3 then when I play the pads there is no sound. Another problem is that when I try to open a saved or new project it stalls with the spinning wheel and crashes.
I am really annoyed with this as BM3 is my workhorse on my iPad Pro. Are any other members having the same problem on iPad Pro 11 inch second generation using the new iOS 14.5.1?

Hi @Artmuzz
I've asked the BM3 beta team to investigate.
I'm not on 14.5.1 yet, and your report makes me slightly scared to try, but I might need to do so in order to confirm if this is a widespread issue or not.
Rest assured we are in contact with the Intua devs, and if this is a BM3-specific issue with14.5.1 we will get it looked at ASAP.
Works without any problem here on my iPad Pro 12.9" 2017, iPadOS 14.5.1
@Artmuzz depending on the feedback we get from other testers, it might be a good time to think about backing up your BM3 project and sample folders, in case you find yourself needing to do a clean install.

Works here on an iPadAir 3 and iOS 14.5.1. Running a project containing both internal instruments and AUv3 (AddStation and FRMS).
Thanks for the replies.
This is very weird. I rebooted my iPad Pro and for a while BM3 started working again as normal but the problem returned when I put my iPad to sleep and came back 15 minutes later and BM3 is back being non responsive again.
Sounds like an issue I’ve been having with a number of apps on my device with 14.5. Does disabling microphone access in system settings make it any more stable? It does on mine but no idea why.
Is this possibly related to the audio engine not running problem? It seems like that may be related to some security enhancement, preventing apps from hearing your conversations.
iPad Pro 2020, iPad OS 14.5.1, no issues so far with BM3 or other apps.
Works fine here on 14.5.1 I pad pro 2017 2nd gen.
Not sure what’s going on but we need to better understand your issue.
What types of projects are you loading? sample heavy, AUV3 heavy?
Trying changing your latency and see if that helps. Looks like something in iOS 14.5.1 is causing issues for you, not sure this is a BM3 issue.
After any updates best practice is to fully reboot your iPad, not a restart.
I’m loading sample heavy projects but I’ve never had this problem before updating to iOS 14.5.1. Strange thing is this seems to happen when load BM3 or the projects straight after I leave my iPad Pro on sleep for a while.
I don’t know if this is only an issue with the second generation iPad Pro 11 inch model when running BM3 with the new 14.5.1 update as forum members here don’t have any issue on other models of iPads.
@Artmuzz You might be experiencing the "missing AUv3 under iOS 14" bug. The only known solution is to restart the iPad (power off, not just sleep). Sounds like you're already doing this.

My only issue that I’ve noticed so far with BM3 is that in order to play a project I’ve been working on I had to adjust the latency from 128 to 256. I have an iPad Pro 9.7. I also had problems when I opened a Cubasis project so I don’t think it was primarily BM3 that showed any need for adjustment.
Something changed in 14.5.1. I was previously on 14.3 and all was good.
No problem until today...Arturia iSem now continually crashes as AUM in BM3....
Otherwise fine so far....
Audio unit 3 ....I mean
Just sayin'. You know you can edit your post when you make a goof. Just tap on the gear icon.
I have tried everything suggested on here as well as reinstalling BM3. I have also rescanned the database but I am still having problems with BM3 since updating from iOS 14.4.2 to iOS 14.5.1.
The worst of it is is that damn Apple have stopped signing iOS 14.4.2. Never again will I be eager to update my iPad again. Strange thing is that BM3 works without any problems on my old iPad Pro 12.9 first generation on iOS 14.5 but I’m not going to dare putting 14.5.1 on it.
Does anyone know of any good substitute for BM3 on Mac OS? I have sort of got the same workflow going on Ableton Live using Push 2 as a controller but it’s so handy to have an iPad because of the multi touch on the pads.
A BIG sample-library can sometimes cause the database thing in BM3 to index like forever.
I've only got ~3GB of samples in BM3 and have not had any issues with iPadOS14.5.1 loading AUv3's etc.
(I'm pretty 'vocal' when stuff doesn't work and regarding BM3 I've not had a reason but another 'DAW' is triggering me time..).
iPadOS14.6 is already in the works and in the autumn iPadOS15...
I hope this gets resolved for you soon, and I'm sorry that we haven't been able to replicate the same issue as you amongst the beta team.
Have you reported it to Intua?

At the moment this does sound rather specific to your iPad model + iOS 14.5.1 - are other hosts and plugins working OK?
When I do get BM3 working all the plugins work OK. The other hosts like Drambo and Nanostudio 2 seem to work OK but I haven’t tested if they develop the same problem after my iPad Pro has been on sleep/standby for hours.
I will mention the BM3 and iOS 14.5.1 on iPad Pro 11 second generation Problem on the Intua forum.
It turns out that BM3 isn’t the only host with the no audio issues on this disaster of an update 14.5.1. Gadget 2, Nanostudio 2, Cubasis 2 and Drambo and all the other hosts I have on my iPad with this update have those issues too.
Strangely, the synth apps like Sunrizer, Korg iWavestation and all the others have no problems with audio. It’s just the hosts. This is unacceptable. Damn Apple.
Yep. Not updating to 14.5.1. I’ll wait
So much for 'Pro iPads' honestly...
I have ZERO audio-related issues with my iPad Air 2, iPadOS14.5.1.
Yup, it was reported in the dRambo group on FB.
One user had updated their iOS to 14.5.1 and AUM
came up with the "Audio engine not running".
Found this thread....

Are you using airpods?
Thanks for the link.
No, I’m not using AirPods. All I’m using is the built in speakers on my iPad and it connected into my mixing desk and monitors.
Nothing connected via bluetooth?
Yes, I have my Apple Pencil connected via Bluetooth. Could this be the problem?
I’m running iPadOS 14.5.1 on an iPad Pro 2018 model and all is fine with BM3. Just tested on a project that has 5 sample based instruments and heavy effects and all seems good. How much hard drive space do you have left on your device? @Artmuzz
I have 150GB of 512GB used on my 2020 iPad Pro so I’ve plenty of space available. BM3 works fine then a few minutes later the audio cuts and there is no audio.
The only way of getting audio back working is to restart my 2020 iPad Pro and all is well until the audio cuts out again and I have to restart again.
