What’s the latest on .exs24 and .sfz players?
About to ditch Auria for good if there’s a good one out there with EASY file management and (hopefully automatic) key mapping. I know of AudioLayer, but it colored my samples in a very drab way without me even touching anything. Anything else out there? Preferably .exs but .sfz will do.

Everything in AudioLayer can be tweaked... it sounds like some default FX were applied because SFZ and EXS care essentially wave files with some metadata, right?
Drab? Please touch the FX section and fix it. There's a parametric EQ and 7 other major FX options. The same FX section you'll find in most @virsyn apps like AudioEffX.
Anyway, maybe there's another app to consider and I'll buy it too! I just found Apple started shipping out EXS instruments in formats AudioLayer couldn't load using the sampler in Logic Pro. And I can't find good free SFZ. Should I step up and buy some good commercial ones?
With the auto-sampler feature in AudioLayer you can sample external hardware with a good audio interface.
Drab... I'd like to hear that. Is it a neighbor to dark? or muted?
AudioLayer is very transparent... if you want it to be.
Appreciate it, but I checked to make sure no fx or filters or eq were enabled. And I did a side-by-side comparison to Lyra in Auria, at equal volumes. Audiolayer sounded more muted and less sparkly. The samples were already made to sound good, so EQ’ing each instrument is a timesink of drudgery. You guys may think I’m crazy; in that case I guess I’ll just stick with Auria.
Was hoping something else had come along by now.
I'd be curious to know details. Did you import the same EXS or sfz into both apps?
Could you post your results?
Did you do your test with a recent version of AudioLayer or was this with the original version?
This was when it first came out and yes, the same .exs files. I got a refund for it because of it but unless this thread comes through I’ll likely end up trying it again
Eh bit the bullet cuz I wanna get something done. We’ll see
Idiot. Another hour down the drain, another refund requested. The import files is a mess
Sorry to hear that. Importing is not without the occasional hiccup, but generally it has worked very well for me. Occasionally I've had to do a bit of individual sample wav file renaming to get things to map correctly. I still think it's a powerful and very decent app though.
Are there any newer or better options today, for SFZ instruments? I have AudioLayer, but find it so clunky to use. I don't feel like a natural with it, ever.
I don't think so. It's a real bummer that file management in AudioLayer is still a nightmare because otherwise it's a great app ... but I don't know a better alternative on iOS.
