weird problem in AUM - solved
I have an app (beta) that until yesterday was showing fine as an AUv3 in AUM. Today it suddenly stopped showing as AUv3 in AUM - but other AUv3 apps are all showing fine in AUM!!! I tried reinstalling, restarting, etc, nothing works. But the app is appearing fine in other hosts - eg it is loading as AUv3 in Ape Matrix. Any suggestions? This is driving me bananas. Cheers

I also reinstalled AUM btw, no banana
Is there a way to force rescan of apps in AUM, apart from restart? And / or is there a way to clear AUM cache?
Did you try forcing a hard reset of your device?
Are you looking for it in the right slot? eg input or effects slot?
For some reason I woke up this morning and couldn’t find any of my guitar apps (Tonestack, THU, Nembrini, etc).
I rebooted my iPad, reinstalled all of those apps, updated iPadOS to the latest, 14.5.1 (even though I told myself I was going to wait, because other people were having issues) and even went as far as to create a thread asking for help in troubleshooting my problem, when a fine member of the ABF politely thumped me in the memory bone; “You are loading those in the effects slot aren’t you, Ed?
Have you tried installing it on your other iPad? Does Aum recognize it there?
You know what, sure enough - and ridiculously - this was part of the solution. Even though this app does produce audio, it seems it can only be loaded as AU in a midi slot, the app only produces audio in standalone or in IAA (which it was appearing as) in aum. Cheers guys 😂
Turns out, according to the dev, that although the app produces sound, devs currently have to choose either instrument or midi processor, apple does not allow the option to do both?
@Gavinski Drambo can be loaded up as both though.
OK, the plot thickens
It's not Loopy Pro is it? Blink once for yes and twice for no.
Wait, how does he know which app you’re talking about? (Plot twist)
I made this same error with Beatcutter recently
was tearing my hair out trying to figure out why it wasn't showing....of course it can only load in an effects slot
Happens to the best of us @drewinnit lol
In this case, weird though as I didn't think of it only as a midi processor since it can make its own sound
The dev misunderstands the options. Many AU handle both audio and midi
It's kinda confusing terminology (Apple being Apple...) but you specify the AU extension type on creation:
You can only pick one, or you can edit the config by hand. Edited for clarity / was just plain confusing
The MIDI processor type, for example doesn't even appear in the drop-down...
