Ipad 6th Generation Lightning Hubs (including hdmi)?

With Lightning, you're not looking for a Hub, but an Adapter. Of course, there's the Apple Digital A/V Adapter, but it has no USB. You can find 3rd party Lightning adapters with HDMI, USB, and sometimes other stuff as well. You want to be sure it has a Lightning charging port as well. For example, this one from Amazon. For multiple USB ports, you probably need a USB hub, passive or powered, as needed.
Lightning iPads can not output a display signal, only iPad Pros can do that.
Probably the Apple version of the camera connection kit with 2nd port for charging, to allow usb connectivity. That’s what I use for music. Or the Apple lightning to hdmi. Or both. Apple doesn’t put multiple types of connectivity into their adapters, so 1 for usb, and a separate one for hdmi. going 3rd party is an option, but it’s not recommended by me, at least for transferring data or using it to connect your music setup. You will probably need a powered usb hub to power up most external HD, SSD, Instruments, interfaces, mics, etc.. also… hopefully that helps.
Yeah cheers all, will have to get the lightning to hdmi adapter.

And there’s also airplay
Wow, I didn’t know that. I thought that is a Pro feature. But can you do only mirroring or can a lightning iPad also show different content on the external screen?
Pros only do mirroring as well afaik. HDMI was available on even 30 pin iPads.
But lightning cant do multiple things like ethernet and hdmi at the same time
Personally I prefer the airplay route. It’s annoying apple hasn’t gotten rid of the black bars with hdmi. Dunno if this is the case still with usbc or the new tb models.
If you play a video on the iPad, and switch to full screen, the video will play full screen on the HDMI connected TV, using the Lightning A/V adapter. The iPad screen says "This video is playing on the TV", similar to AirPlay.
Sigh…one day I’ll learn to edit my posts rather than accidentally quoting myself…..
See below
Plus you free up that lightning port for another function other than hdmi.
Sure. That's because the iPad screen is 4:3. Not sure how you're making it display 16:9 without distortion. Great, if that's what you need.
Not sure...its full screen on airplay on a 16:9 TV and dell display
There are some apps that can show a different content on the monitor. For instance with iMovie on an iPad Pro you see the rendered video full screen on the external monitor while you are editing on the native display. I always thought that is for iPads Pro only.
But honestly I don’t know any other monitor utilization than full screen video. Maybe that’s all what is possible right now. Anyway, I hope for better dual screen support in upcoming iPadOS versions. Imagine in AUM you could move AUv3 windows to the second screen.
Just wondering is their a cheaper alternative for airplay tv? What about chromecast, is that any good?
Only Apple TV will have the seamless integration with iOS. With anything else, you're dependent on support by specific apps, e.g. YouTube supports chromecast.
If all you need is airplay and no apps, a 50$ Or less 3rd gen aTV from eBay will work. It’s what I have my dell display connected to for the iPad to avoid the black bars.
The only time I really use it is when I’m going to write a Novella length email.
