Moogalomania / 8x Model 15

Happy Birfday, Robert. My little gift to you. 8 tracks Model 15, but starting off with VrB3m. The bass is BASSalicious, tho I’m sure I could have found that in 15 as well. Plus a little Ravenscroft, which I could not have found. Improvised as usual.

This sucks on iPad spkrs. Headphones, please, and loud! I’m begging you!😉

  • Moogalicious! Great track and a wonderful tribute!

  • Thanks, @Edward_Alexander . Appreciate the ears.

  • The Man with the Huge Organ.

  • When the @Linearlineman gets out his massive Organ and delivers a Poly-Bach-a-nalian workout in a 2 cycle loop! Did you know all his music is loop based... this one is a 2 minute and 42 second loop.

Bach's music created the high of the polyphonic era before the era of the classicists like
Heinlein and Asimov... oops wrong art form... make that Mozart and Beethoven. Polyphony
in the compositional sense implies multiple melodic lines that are coordinated to provide
harmonic content by design. It takes skill to generate that style in an improvisation. There are tricks to it and our keyboard wizard has etched them into his brain.

One of the first classes the music major takes in my day was the analysis of Bach's keyboard works to define the rules and best practices of polyphony. The course before that was harmony based on his music for chorales.

  • Amazing song, my brother... It's good even on speakers... but oh, with headphones, you can enjoy it fully 💖🥰

  • Nice one Mike. Thx for sharing!

@McD, yes I am the Looper!
@senhorlampada, thanks, mate, always glad when you listen.
    @onerez, thanks for listening.

  • @LinearLineman

Listening on good quality headphones as your pieces deserve.

There’s a passing chord you used about midway that really caught my attention before
you went into the second movement as I describe it using my somewhat limited vocabulary,
like a breath of fresh air before you delved even deeper, I think it was repeated towards the end.

    An awesome piece.

I always love listening to your explorations and compositions.

    Thank you for sharing.

  • Hi @Gravitas. Thanks for listening. I know exactly the chord you’re talking about. It was very unexpected.

My teacher, Connie Crothers, told me a story of a concert she gave. When she played very last chord
Of the performance it sounded awful to her. All she could do was throw back her head and laugh. The plight of the true improviser! After the concert a couple came up and thanked her. A great show... but that last chord... it was the best!

We never know what’s gonna happen when we let loose... and we often are unable to judge, at the moment of creation, whether something is good or bad. That chord you liked... it felt cringeworthy when I played it. Lol!

I remember you mentioning Connie Crothers, wasn't she
the one in a video you shared who was singing and improvising
polyrhythms on the piano at the same time?
    Amazing.

Yeah, I've been there before, that 'cringeworthy', moment
and one feels arggghhh I didn't want to do that.
    And then it's all okay.
And then someone reminds you of it and then you go arrgggh again.

    Yeah....Lololol

We never know what’s gonna happen when we let loose... and we often are unable to judge, at the moment of creation, whether something is good or bad. That chord you liked... it felt cringeworthy when I played it. Lol!

    From my perspective?
    It was a wonderful chord.

    Really liked it.

    Amazing.

That was another NYC pianist that @LinearLineman has as a friend.

I think she also produced albums on https://newartistsrecords.com/

For a brief bio on Connie read this:

To hear her play listen to this:

Yes, @Gravitas, that was Kazzrie Jaxsen you’re referring to. Tho both trained with Lennie Tristano, they are different as night and day.

    Ahhhh...thanks for that.

I simply remember phenomenal musicianship and a Master of her craft.

I'll make sure I remember correctly for future reference though it
was quite awhile back when you mentioned Kazzrie Jansen.

  • That was wonderful! Thanks, Michael!

  • The audience (overtime) re-programs the artist with feedback. The music of @Linearlineman is unconsciously seeking our approval... I suspect there's a small voice that mentions "They won't get this" or "this will get to them." and @LinearLineman probably responds "STFU... I'm doing this now." Then there's the hours of editing/mixing. There's not a lot of editing but the mixing has become a huge investment in making a fully fleshed out composition for an ensemble,

  • I'm sure old Bob would have been impressed as was I. Great work!

  • Christ that's excellent! It reminds me a little bit of Classical music, but orchestrated for the Moog Model 15. Something like Jean-Michel Jarre and Vangelis would do on their gear. As @soundtemple said, old Bob would've been impressed. Cheers mate.

What you say about Bob Moogliking it makes me feel good @soundtemple. Thanks for that!

And thx so much for the praise @jwmmakerofmusic.you put me in very good company. And, yes, classical motives seem to work their way in quite regularly.
