MOOGaMOOGa / More And Better Model 15
2nd attempt at Model 15... with better results. The two tracks at the beginning are MOOG (Pad and ARP). They continue with the help of GeoShred and Rock Drummer.
This must be listened to with headphones. It simply sounds like shit out of the iPad speakers. But quite great, (IMHO) with phones.
Comments
Sounds quite good on iPad speakers too. I don't use a "Pro" model though 😅
And: Drums! 💃🏻🕺
Tom Sawyer drums haha. Is the lead GeoShred? Pretty amazing
Ok. I believe you played in rock bands in your youth. You channel some prog rock hero’s of mine in this creation. Keith Emerson is at the top of that list for me with his integration of “serious” music and rock idioms with side dishes of ragtime, boogie blues, and honky tonk. He’s one of those musicians where I thought with the first minute I must find out who this is... a late night FM radio habit in my school years. I was analyzing Bach in school and he was including Bach quotes in his paint solos and playing his ass off to boot. Kids love the fiery types more than the truly creative players. This guy was a “show that never ends”.
And you sir are a creator that doesn’t copy from your neighbors worksheet. It’s always reaching for something new.
Thanks @rs2000, yes the pro has the drawback of extra spkrs, thus simplifying sonic disasters!😉
@mjcouche, what’s the Tom Sawyer ref? I can only remember he attended his own funeral😳😎
“And you sir are a creator that doesn’t copy from your neighbors worksheet. It’s always reaching for something new.” - @McD
One of the best things anyone ever said about my stuff. Thanks for the support over the, now, years.
@LinearLineman I bet @mjcouche has this one in mind: https://youtu.be/auLBLk4ibAk
I listened to what Connie trained her students to do. “Do not copy anyone else.”
She taught you well... you are one of a kind. You only sound like yourself and there’s still a lot of people in that one “you”.
Going for new every time comes off that way. There’s not a lot of repetition of ideas and the signature becomes a bit of a change up artist... let’s try this face on today.
You call it jazz but it’s really a little bit anti-jazz when held up to most commercial jazz which fits into a genre with strict patterns and forms. When I listened to your live album I was shocked at how different it was from what I’d heard on most jazz labels. Connie’s direction was to avoid cliche or confusion invention and you we’re all that and a bag of chips.
Of course, I just want to play like Chick Corea without the Scientology. But mistake, right?
Wrong goal. I’m used to failing to reach my goals. I’m a master at changing goals like normal people change underwear.
I’d like to start writing songs again I think.
@LinearLineman Fantastic representation of classic progressive rock!
Totally agree with @McD Every word!
It’s original and unique, and your not ripping off anyone from the past or present!
I’d personally love to hear a lot more of this genre from you. I think it showcases your talents more.
I think you’ve just raised the bar… on all of us!
In other words, like McD, I want to start writing songs again too. Good songs, not these little loopy jams that can be thrown together in minutes; these are child’s play to real musicians, I know that, and you guys know that.
So thank you for being the inspiration, and for serving these examples of musicianship that we can all strive towards!
Thanks @McD and @Edward_Alexander. Look forward to songs from you two.
Don’t hold your breath... today I want to be a smart ass-tribute. Some they send into space to wisecrack. Bugs bunny in Space Jam... a movie I have never seen because of a persistent trauma from high school gym classes and being the shortest kid in school. I still cannot trust a tall person and there are more of them than there are “good” people.
I’m sure there are songs in my pain. So Ng’s typically written by teenage girls or young men that commit suicide to sell more product and pay off debts.
@McD, I think with your stream of consciousness humor that rap might be the right fit for you.
A touch of the melodic lines dropped in there from the piece I heard yesterday.
Overall so different from your other pieces texturally.
I enjoyed that.
Really cool.
Thanks @Gravitas. Nothing like a free app to get one’s roogalator workin’! Seriously, though, the Model 15 is a spectacular synth. Makes me wish I was more than just a preset guy.
@LinearLineman
Agreed, it is a spectacular synth.
Presets are good starting points for developing your own.
Tweak them, play with the settings and when one pleases your ear save it.
Still, there is a joy in simply selecting a sound and saying ,’yeah, I can have fun with this one”.
I’ve started exploring Animoog and it’s very cool, both visually and aurally.
Not to such when I’m going to actually do some composing again
but I’m having fun putting together new instruments and exploring sounds.
