Super Manetron
Just thought I'd pass this on...
New app for iPhone "Super Manetron" currently 50% making it $3.99 with a promise of a major update in 2Q of 2013 that will make it a universal app for iPad.
From the app description:
"SPECIAL SALE! 50% OFF TILL NEXT MAJOR UPDATE!
We are going to support iPad as universal app in the next major update (2nd Quarter of 2013). 50% off till then."
Wanted to share because it 50% Off and in the next update it will be a universal app for iPad. It's a remake of the Mellotron M400S. Looks pretty basic right now but with some decent updates could be nice and maybe in the future will support AB.
Comments
Just tried manetron for free and it sound pretty good I must say.
External keyboard only at the moment.
I'm using M3000 HD. Nice app, but they should have kept the samples unlooped and with the original noises and artifacts. And it needs MIDI (and Audiobus )
How does Super Manetron compares to M3000 HD in terms of sound and fidelity to the original?
Never had an original tron. Also don't have M3000 HD, so I'd be guessing.
Same here...
The universal update is out. In the description it now states that audiobus support will be in the next update.
Now it's 7.99.
I should have bought it earier then, paid 7.99 yesterday.
But its worth!
Much better than M3000HD in terms of fidelity to the original, great sound, really.
It was sampled from a M400 and has all the most traditional tapes.
The motor noise can be turned off (or on if you want the experience of standing in front of the Mellotron's cabinet; off for recording the line signal, of course. The same goes for spring mechanism noises.)
The samples are gorgeous, no looping and they include the "end of tape" glitches...
Very good!
Hi I just saw this thread and figured I would post a song I wrote using the Super Manetron as a lead melody line. I really love the sound of this app and I hope the developer will implement Audiobus very soon. This track used audiobus for all the other tracks ( loopy, dm-1, ifretless, Magellen for fx, and recorded into Multitrack Daw.) The Super Manetron was recorded by playing my Korg Microkey25 using the Apogee jam from one ipad into another! (I bought an ipad4 when I heard that Audiobus was imminent!
It's called Aztec Dance of Peace:
I'm pretty sure the next update is supposed to be Audiobus
Hi Super Manetron with Audiobus, in review by Apple now. You can get it within one week. Sorry to keep you waiting!
Excellent. Thanks!
Oh yeah! I was waiting for this one to come in. Vintage collection on AB finally complete. Thanks!
With video....

Bummer, I missed the sale!
No you haven't. 50% off when the update comes. Get it then
I believe I shall! Thanks for pointing that out. This will come in handy for covering King Crimson and "Blue Jay Way"!
Ya'll are welcome! I do believe I started this thread a few months back (just now noticed someone gave me a -1 for the original post...what the heck!) just kidding though with the whole "look at me" attitude, def not like that
Will buy this the second it's released.
@JMSexton there, I just made everything better
@JMSexton and I gave you some extra margin in case anyone else tries it!
I would have jumped at this some months ago, but i now have mellotron sounds in Thumbjam and Sampletank, so do I really need this too?
PhilW. Where are the mellotron's in Sampletank and thumbjam?
@Bootsy
Thumbjam has a bunch of extra sounds you can download for free including Mellotron flutes, strings, brass, choir, etc. There's a bunch of other stuff to download too. Go to Sounds then Download Samples you'll see there what you don't have yet.
The Sampletank Mellotron sounds might be in the big in App purchase which was on sale a while back maybe someone else knows for sure.
You may need to download them in Thumbjam. Sounds->Download Samples. The mellotron samples all begin with "Mellotron"...
SampleTank's few tron sounds are in the relevant IAP packs. Some strings, flute and choir samples.
Holy cow, I never knew TJ had extras! Good stuff!
Moo
I thought I bought the whole Sampletank package so I must have them somewhere in there.
I've always loved Thumbjam's instruments! They really ARE a cut above the rest! Someone needs to take Intua aside and let them listen to how on-board instruments should really sound...
FWIW, I find that the mellotron sounds that Mellotronics M3000 and Super Manetron produce sound "better" (maybe more authentic maybe warmer?) than both Thimbjam and SampleTank's Mellotron soumds. This could however be somewhat psychological due to the look/feel that is experienced with the retro M3000 and Manetron UIs.
