IOS 14XX audio latency figures ?

Does anyone know how low round trip latency you can get of the new iPads running IOS14XX and are there any other hidden audio limitations in IOS audio since developers cannot supply their own drivers etc..

I'm would like to use it with guitar modelers so one channel low latency is top priority

  • Got the  iPad Pro 12;9 last week, made a few guitar/vocal recordings with a few usb audiointerfaces - no problem at all, as fast/faster tan my iPad Pro 12`9 2019

  • Thanks a lot - I saw that one :)

But does it not mostly show how many tracks it can run - which I guess is super massive. But Garageband on my iPad it runs fixed at a buffer setting at 256 which to my fingers feel a little disconnected when playing. What I'm after is lowers possible latency in ms for one single track. I have a RME sound card that can run a pretty low buffer setting in ms on a powerfull Mac, but I was just curious on how that senario could be obtained on a new powerfull iPad Pro. I have a suspicion that IOS generic audio is not as snappy because to me it does not look like pro audio is Apples main priority for these devices - but perhaps that's not so ??

    I hope I'm wrong :)

Most other hosts will let you run smaller buffers. Use one of them and set the buffer to 128 and see what you think.
