Which IceWorks synth is the least similar to Lagrange?

The ongoing sale offers a good excuse to buy another synth from this dev. In YouTube videos they sound a bit similar. I have and like Lagrange, now I would like to try something from the other end of their spectrum. Which one would you recommend? Existing Richard or Spider presets would be a bonus. :)

Thanks for the tips! 🙏

  • KRONECKER

  • They're all pretty similar. And Lagrange is basically the one that can cover all the algorithms and oscillators of the others. That said, Kronecker has a unique envelope section. My vote goes to that as being most dissimilar.

    +1

If you want something really different then check out Sugar Bytes synths. They have a few really unique ones, my personal favorite is Aparillo. Factory is also great if you want something a bit more conventional.
SB apps go on sale too, sooner or later.

    Both are free to try!

Kronecker. It’s great. Nothing else like it on iOS, I think. A very unique synth. I have a bank for it.

  • Lagrange, Kronecker, Mersenne, Redshrike are similar - but different. Lagrange embodies a lot of Icegear's thinking and design over the years. Resonators everywhere you look.

Redshrike is a very nice bit of kit - more "normal" to my ears ... but they each make unique edgy brittle sounds ... I find they work very well supporting strings.

But to be honest you get most of that edge and resonant jangling from Lagrange. It'd be nice to be able to swap presets between them somehow.

If you are burning to invest in some new icegear synth, I thoroughly recommend that Yukawa contraption... again quite unique ... can bring some Icegear magic to anything. @ervin

  • Yeah...Kronecker...

Thank you all for the quick reaction and tips. As a bonus, it seems like there's quite a consensus here, which certainly makes my life easier!

I also appreciated the leftfield suggestions. While Aparillo and Yukawa were not, strictly speaking, in scope, I have and like them both :)

Okay, now let's go see what the famous "God made the integers" man has in store for ios synth music. Thanks again! 🙏
