AUM question
New AUM user here.
I've noticed everytime I start AUM my midi controller is not connected. Even when the midi controller is connected and I save a session, when I close and reopen AUM the midi controller is not connected to "internal midi control" and I have to reconnect. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Are you remembering to manually save the session after you have everything connected as you would like? AUM normally does save/restore the connections.
Is it a bluetooth controller perhaps? These controllers need manual connection after each disconnect... You can use the shortcut in the top left of the MIDI matrix in AUM for less steps.
Actually, I think it only restores the last setup if you click the small "Reload Last Session" button near the bottom of AUM's opening screen. Otherwise it starts with a blank slate, doesn't it? AUM does always auto-save the "last session" (the state you're in when AUM is closed), but you only have it restored upon opening if you click that "Reload Last Session" button.
you can save a session and reopen it. since the op mentioned saving the session, i assumed op knew to reopen the session, but maybe not.
So, the procedure is:
You may be right regarding OP, on the other hand it's a little odd that he says, "when I close and reopen AUM the midi controller is not connected to 'internal midi control' and I have to reconnect. . . " I'm not sure what he's doing.
FWIW, I often don't even bother to save my session manually at all. At some point after using AUM I manually close/kill AUM using IOS facility for that. Then I'm just in habit of clicking "Reload Last Session" whenever I re-open AUM. That works fine, although of course manually saving/loading named sessions is another way to go about restoring a specific session.
Yes, everything connected, create a session, save it, close / reopen AUM and midi controller not listed. Keep in mind, I am not restoring the previous session. I'm talking about when I open AUM and the default blank session loads. I want to make it so my midi controller always appears on the initial load. Similar to setting a global setting.
This is what I'm doing. But when I send a pc message to open the session the midi controller is not connected.... Hence the pc message fails.
I would like my midi controller to always connect by default every time I launch AUM ideally.
That is not how AUM is designed. When you open AUM, it will, by design, be an empty session with nothing loaded.
Ah... understood. Being new to AUM I wasn't sure if that was normal behavior or user error. Thanks everyone for the help!
