Yamaha MD-BT01 Bluetooth midi adapter does not show up

Just got a Yamaha MD-BT01 BT midi adapter. Plugged it into my synth, downloaded the utility app to my iPad: https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/md-bt01-ud-bt01-utility/id1063901794
Despite the utility app recognizes the adapter and could update its firmware as well with no problem, the adapter simply does not show up in the available bluetooth devices list in the BT settings menu.
My android phone can see it, my iPad can not...
Any idea?

It’s not obvious, but often those Yamaha BT adapters need a “liaison” app that advertises the midi device. This is beyond the utility app and the iPad’s own Bluetooth menu.

Try the app called midimittr (it’s free). It will advertise or connect the BT adapter your iPad, and once it shows up in the iPad’s Bluetooth menu it will always be a available there in background, no need to open the app ever again.

I have the same BT adapter by the way, and I use midimittr to initiate the connection to iPad. It’s really simple.
