Here is my take, using the clean vox. A bit different to my usual genre ;)

Thanks @iOSTRAKON - here is a slightly different mix with some fx on the vocal track.

My two cents! I think it's not your cup of tea, but anyway! Have fun!

    Edit: forgot to tag @iOSTRAKON

  • I stole just one word it got silly but well its short:

Except for the drums, all sounds are made from the sample in Koala

Unnatural and unexpected. I dig the idea to use just a short sample 🤘

  • @AlterEgo_UK - nice alternate mix / really liked the fx you added to the vox. Nice go around like this I’ll do some vocals with an exact tempo

@PartOfPayn - this is bad ass // nice seamless of transitions!

@JudasZimmerman - made my day with that!

  • Giving anyone a last chance to submit their tracks. I’ll pick a winner in the next day or so. Tuesday night at the latest.

  • Oh…why not…

Made in Cubasis 3. Moog Matriarch makes an appearance.

I’m new to this and don’t know how to embed properly..

  • Listening now! Reminds of a 90s dark sci-fi flick. Great track

Thanks, @iOSTRAKON. I started this song the night that you started the challenge. Of course, I got swamped and never got around to doing more to it. Thanks for the reminder yesterday. I hope to share more content in the future.

  • I almost got buried with issues with some apps (iBassist and DrumLab mainly )
But here it is. I'll still do a pop-country version later  But i'll play with the chant challenge before that

After way too much procrastination and messing about, I finally ‘arranged’ something in cubasis using a mix of the dry stem and distorted versions of it put through a nasty valve based filter I’ve been messing with. I allowed myself a bit of @linearlineman free play on the double bass (clearly no comparison, but the spirit at least was there :) ) and added the usual reverbs (velvet and dare I say it blackhole) and mixed through bits of a similarly distorted beat...

Image courtesy @iOSTRAKON he sent in response to me showing what I was up to...

  • Love it, @Krupa
Interesting idea of running it through a hardware filter
Is it something you're building? or tweaking/customizing?

My initial idea for this challenge was to run my ipad stems through my hardware samplers, but I already was late as it is

  • Cheers @senhorlampada , I’ve had a strange attack of circuit bending this year, I think it was building for over a decade really but finding some designs for low voltage tube oscillators tipped the scales, and now I’m covered in wires 😁

I’d been pushing on improving some filter designs I’d found, and the vox sample really challenged me as it seemed not to respond much to the earlier versions. I almost gave up, but bolting a simple overdrive circuit onto the end and feeding that back into the resonance as well as the initial amp output just sent it to a place where it made me happy 😃

I’ve been detailing much of the stuff in another thread here

    https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/44436/why-vacuum-tubes-are-the-my-future-of-music-production

I was surprised I actually finished something myself as well, similarly running late - I think it lacks a bit of vision/direction, and a driving bass element would really help in places, but this was my first export from cubasis so I’m early days yet :)

  • awesome stuff! Gonna take a read on the other thread

  • Tough decision /// truly enjoyed every track

My pick: @Krupa with tubetacular brap / keep building your noise machines

  • Thanks dude, that’s quite an honour among so many great contributions, I’m sure it was hard picking from them, 🙏 and be assured, this particular obsession is still sticking, just about to order more parts so that I can make some of them more permanent as I now no longer have spare pots to piss about with, to recoin a phrase 😁

  • @Krupa Congratulations :) You made a nice atmospheric track.

  • Cheers @Identor I’m definitely thinking of going back to it and arranging a bit more structure into it. I still feel like I could get a simple bassline in there, but I had trouble determining the exact bpm of the processed drums; either I nudged something on the old iPad 3 that I used to play stuff out into these vile constructions, or the processing did something weird to it - I have noticed an unexpected delay effect on certain things - spookily on @iOSTRAKON voice mostly...

  • Congrats, Krupa!
But I also feel we're all winners too
These challenges are great. I have been in a rut and not posting anything. But this and the Gadget LE challenges got me back on track

Maybe try and wing it playing along? Sometimes when I try to sequence stuff, it bites me back in the ass  (as was the case trying to use Drumlab these days)

Although I love your track as it is. If you do a new one, keep the old one and call the new one Remix 😂

  • Cheers @senhorlampada , I think you’re right there on both counts, playing it in will get the feel I’m imagining, and this has definitely got me to push the filter design to somewhere I’m excited by, as well as got me to finally stick some stuff on a cubasis timeline... and yeah, now for the chants 😁

  • My voice is out of control @Krupa / you can wish to contain it 😉

Glad to hear that @senhorlampada / I was hoping it would break some writers block as well! We see a lot of presets etc being shared (which is awesome) so I wanted to throw some voices in the mix. Too bad I’m not a good singer!
