Updated
New remastered version with Magic Death Eye Stereo compression to level out everything with the drums. Also used AUM’s native Parametric EQ to scoop out the middle frequency noise.
I also edited the cover image (that was stolen from google) with Pixelmator’s kaleidoscopic tools.
A little noodle that was in my head this morning while having my coffee.
The “Lumbeat duo” of Rock Drummer and iBassist provides the foundation. These apps are hit or miss getting them to do what you want them to do. I think this morning I have a hit! I really wish we’d get AUv3 versions of these apps one day!
Ibassist for the Bassline and using the accompaniment feature to drive Moog Model 15 for the “echoey” arp effect on the bass. The new and amazing Timeless 3 delay used on Synthmaster One and TAL-U-NO-LX for the two other synth parts driven by the amazing Atom 2 (thank you @blueveek !)

I wanted the sax part to be simple enough, to not take anything away from the other parts. Instead of trying to shred a solo, the sax part is only there to support the other melodies. 2 or 3 note phrases are the best I think. Just thinking out loud here from a couch composition point of view lol

In the words of Lee Ving, lead singer of Fear: "New York's all right if you like saxophones." Which, paradoxically as a New Yorker, I do not. But this is just great. I especially like the obviously artificial playing of the very "real" sounding bass. I'm definitely going to steal that trick. (I really do want a dramatic key change at the very end!)

So I just went and had a listen in the car. The drums are way too loud! I’ll remix this when I get back home.

This tenor sax instance makes me think of the studio musician that created that sax part for “Careless Whispers” and sued fir dong writing credit. I think it was deserved given the contribution to the over all tune. Imagine a cover without that luck between verses.
Caution: this link starts a stream that leads to the cover of the morally repugnant “Don’t Let My Son Go Down on Me”. I know it’s a religious song but still hard to get those images out of your head when you see the iconic Christian images. If this offends someone with deeply held beliefs... we’re closer to even. But I have more shots to take.
Some should be fined for “guilty feet have got no rhythm”. No one dances like a cheat.
As he should have, that iconic sax part is what sold the song!
Now “Don’t let the sun go down on me” I never knew to be a religious song. I just thought it was another cool old song that he did with Elton John. I guess I’d have to be religious to know about this “morally repugnant” business, and being an instrumentalist, I hardly ever stop to listen to or notice a lot of lyrics anyway.
Agreed! These swam sounds are far better used - by most people anyway - in this kind of way, rather than trying to emulate complex real sax solos, IMHO

Great listen! The star of the show for me was the sax. From personal experience I know how difficult it is to play that GeoShred sax convincingly but you really pulled it off. Restrained and classy.

a. Opened the file in AudioShare - Applied a proper fade at the end and Normalized
b. Opened File Player in AUM and applied some MagicDeathEyeStereo compression to the file to squash the drums and level everything out. AUM’s native parametric EQ to scoop out some middle noise.

Nice track! The synth me of Boards of Canada in some way. Dreamy. The overall feeling of the song is like going to a new destination, and leaving good times behind.
