USA : 3 Day Weekend—What’s cooking for you?

Hello 3 Day Weekend. Hope to get a couple good sessions out of this setup 🙏🏼💕

For the curious. Using a USB-C hub to route midi from the MPC to the iPad and audio from the iPad to the MPC. I didn’t feel like bringing an audio interface in to the mix of this small setup. Wish me luck 😜

  • Can’t wait to hear what you cook up! Wishing you and yours a nice holiday weekend.

  • Nice looking setup. I hope you get good results. Before I read your description at the bottom, I was trying to figure what that box was in the background. 😜 (Running Drambo, I presume?)

As for me, I'll likely spend some time with Chordjam and MIDI Strummer which I just purchased this past week.

  • @echoopera Looking forward to hearing. We are getting ready to sell the house and move down to your homeland

This weekend is my 30th so I’m enjoying good food, good drinks, and time with my girlfriend.

She got me Kanye’s Graduation on vinyl for my birthday but our record player keeps skipping, likely because it was a rather cheap one.

  • @scadet many thanks. Same to you. Have a blessed weekend.
@telecharge i love ChordJam. I just love AudioModern apps.
    @mjcouche Canadians Eh? Welcome 😉
@DukeWonder HAPPY BIRTHDAY🎉🎊 sounds like a great girlfriend. Love those deeply closest to you and honor them for the joy and wonder they bring to you.

Maybe sample the glitchiness of the skipping record. 😉

  • Tape a quarter to the top of the stylus.

This weekend I’m planning on diving into Cubasis on the new iPad, along with the Eventide plugs I caved and bought for iOS as well. If that doesn’t work, I have a new set almost ready to record with the 707, OB-6, and Hydrasynth so I’ll keep plugging away at that.

Cool. Can’t wait to hear it 👊🏼™️

  • Been busy programming my new guitar setup: HX Stomp and a Morningstar MC8, to go with my Eventide TimeFactor and Space. Probably get up to some Drone Day shenanigans with that.

  • I have a live gig tonight that just came up yesterday, then live sound tomorrow morning, then my “3 day weekend” gets completed by having our central air conditioning replaced on Monday to the tune of $5k...so you know, nothing big going on...

But I have a live gig!!! And I did 4 days of recording this week for my friend’s jazz album- he and all of the musicians did 34 tunes in 3.5 days. So I have lots of mixing coming up. This was my dream at the start of 2020 when I jumped into audio full time, it just got delayed a little bit.

  • @mrufino1 when it rains it pours they say. Congrats on the Gig and the A/C.

Be Hot at the club and cool at home 👊🏼™️

  • Music related and yet also not. Nice weekend for it since it’ll be pouring for the next three days

  • Work, and grabbing a couple Swam’s before the sale ends.

  • @icsleepers Alder? Wood grain looks good for a solid color.

Use to do this to Strats years ago. Paint stripper for the corners/rounded areas (do they even sell stripper any more? Too toxic?) Lots of sandpaper/3M sanding sponges, Minwax wood conditioner, stain, and handrubbed poly. Damn, I miss that.

  • I took this last week off (Monday was a Canuck holiday). Mostly laid around useless but did add a couple sketches to the Maschine pile.

  • @ocelot Yup! Full on gut, all new hardware, pickups, only thing I'm keeping is the body and neck. Pretty sure it's alder. NO idea about the paint stripper, maybe, but gonna just take my time around the corners with the heat gun and scraper. Suspect mucho sanding lol

  • Just replaced my Akai APC40 mk2 with an Ableton Push 2 yesterday so I’ll be spending my 3 day (rainy so far) weekend learning how to use it 😁

  • @icsleepers Ah, the heat gun, yeah, that's the ticket! Would love to see what it looks like when finished.

Haven't checked out Warmoth and USA Custom Guitars in eons, but wow, the prices haven't increased too much. Tempting. Good luck!

Ha! Thanks. Funny thing is that I turned the heat on this morning, it’s rainy and cold in NJ today.

Last I checked...my wife and daughters are at a soccer tournament all weekend just outside of philly, this whole spring season has been nothing but cold and rain every time they have a game. But the US is beginning to emerge from the pandemic, so things are looking up regardless of weather.

These are GORGEOUS - bookmarking in case this goes well. Highly experimental have not yet tried this lol

  • Yeah, the Warmoths have impeccable build quality and super-tight neck-to-body joints. I dislike having to shim loose neck joints on some Fenders. Necks are great too, love their Boatneck (52 Tele) and Roundback (59 LP) profiles.

Years ago, their were some high-end guitars made by Warmoth - Yamaha USA Pacifica Custom, and quite a few vintage-style Strats when relic'ing was all the rage. Slap your own decal on the headstock, post some photos (without showing the headstock), and get a celebrity to play it. Kind of like when Slash was a Gibson endoser, yet saying 'Gibson's not good enough nowadays' in interviews, and having his LPs custom-made by a dude in his workshop.
