LOL. No, I’m quite familiar with the original saying.

  • I hate stupid snappy adages because they’re just so true and time-tested you want to tear them apart. So widely used you ignore them as trite. Then you finally learn your lesson(s) through experience and it makes you even angrier cause the adage was just sitting there the whole time chuckling at you with a “told ya” smirk

They don’t call them aphorisms for nothing. ;)

Nor “old saws” for nothin! :p

(Pretty good transition back to topic, I thought, no? Then again I still have that “pun is the lowest form of wit” axiom to learn the hard way)

@Samu are you using Shaper Synth’s LFO to it full effect or are you just being a control fetishist?

Shaper Synth is and has been one of my go-to 'tweak synths' when it got released.
Just waiting for it to get PWM support too...

And yes, I'm a bit of a 'control fetishist' and since it's 'software' why have artificial limits when it comes to modulation?
(Ie. why limit the envelopes to fixed number of points and LFO to 'basic shapes' and why limit the number of modulation sources?).

    There's always something missing, right?
Let's not forget that these "artificial limits" is what drew us into the iOS music world.

I see iOS mainly as a fun and more or less experimental music platform rather than a platform for implementing state of the art technology.

This and a few others have reminded me of that episode in the office (US) where Pam and Kevin argue about how soon the copier will be ready. Lol. script. This is not at all directed at anything in particular, more towards the actual term “Coming Soon” if you can make fun of phrases. lol. it’s quite the combination of words. I just always thing of this scene.

The Office Season 5 Episode 21 Quotes
    Kevin: Pam?
    Pam: Hmm?
Kevin: When will the new copier be ready?
Pam: I'm working on it Kev.
Kevin: You said it would be ready by today. And it is today.
    Pam: It'll be ready soon.
Kevin: Soon could mean anything. Soon could be 3 weeks.
Pam: Is that what 'soon' means to you?
    Kevin: Sometimes.
    Pam: Then come back soon.

I believe they’ve mentioned multiple times in this thread that it has been pushed back because they wanted to add more.

To be fair, these synths are in a very, very competitive market and there is not a huge audience for these, so they have to get their niche offering right.

I agree. Plus every developer is different, with different personalities, capabilities, work methods, free time, etc.. I totally understand where TB is coming from, and I’m happy to wait for something great. Just every time I see this thread I think of that exchange from The Office (US). That’s all. Not mad, just eager and excited to try this bad boy, if it has even a semi reasonable price tag it’s a go for me on day 1. Love all 5 of their apps I have and what I’ve heard sounds phenomenal.

I am more and more impressed by this company. All their tools are top notch, sold at very reasonable price, pretty sure this synth will have their signature.

Hehe 'soon' is always a funny estimation of time :sunglasses:

  • I should have written really soon because it's sooner than when this discussion started.... :)

So less than 2 months out. That's good to know. OT, but will there be a bundle for the version 4 desktop apps?

  • edited August 2021

Depending on when this app actually drops we can start the defining of 'Steinberg Soon' and 'Toneboosters Soon' :sunglasses:

  • Is it "already delivered" soon? 😆

  • By the weekend soon is the best kind of soon 😉

  • I have to admit that I've tried my best to grab the manual (by following the same file-naming convention as other TB apps) but no luck... :sunglasses:

  • Unicorns remain somewhat difficult to document.
