Biomusic: Nature inspired Ambience

As Douglas Adams might have said, this is the fourth piece in my bird inspired trilogy.
For bird spotters the (Great) Bittern is a large, shy member of the Heron family. It has a unique, very loud, very deep (150 Hz?) booming call used here completely unprocessed. I have been lucky enough to see them 2 or 3 times and hear them a couple of times more.
For GeoShred spotters, I have stripped all of the effects out of GS including the amplifier so just using the basic string sound. Also added the Instrument picker which (hopefully) changes the sound significantly.
I also found while writing this that it is a specific genre of music I.e. Biomusic!

  • Ok a shameless bounce of this for three good reasons?
One, I thought it was a decent effort and more than 15 views in a week was a bit disappointing, and…
Two, I am fascinated by the impact of a threads title on viewing figures. #050 Bittern was entered sensible and logical to me but I can see why it was probably gibberish and certainly not click bait to most people. So I thought I would try a title change as an experiment. Yes, you dear reader are now part of my experiment!
Three, more people should have the pleasure of hearing a Bittern.

  • Thanks for the shameless bounce.
Sometimes the forum can make stuff vanish fast.

Loved your effort and definition of Biomusic

I see that I need to save some custom presets in Geoshred. Shredding away some of those effects really pays off. (pun intended)

And btw, had to search what is a Bittern.
In portuguese, they have a similar sounding name: Abetouro

  • Thanks @senhorlampada for listening and commenting. My experiment has (unscientifically) shown the value of a good title. #050 Bittern managed 15 views in a week. The current title has taken it to 100 in a day!
A well timed comment and reply of course helps to bubble it back up the pecking order (bird related pun intended)😊
Abatoura is indeed the Eurasian Bittern which is the one with the loudest and deepest boom.

  • Hi,
Nice attempt of a naturalistic and contemplative music.
Yes, title is very important, obviously.
Probably Youtube and Google search algorithm will less struggle to index your content with "*music", "Nature", "Ambience" than with "#050", "Bittern" ;)

  • Nice GS patch. Did you start from a factory patch?

  • Well, I learned a new word. Bittern is Rohrdommel in German.

    Nice track, too 😎

  • Thanks all. @Wrlds2ndBstGeoshredr , I have done here what a few people here seem to want I.e. stripped out all the GS effects and muted the GS amp as per screen shot below. Then added the Instrument picker I.e. On the Control Surface, Guitar / Common / Instrument. The effects chain is as per video. The differences in tone are then just by selecting a different body type via the Instrument picker.

  • I was mesmerized. Got to find some bittern samples.

thanks!; the mimicry of the lyra bird is amazing but also kind of sad with those encroaching noises. Okay, if you could find and live by one of these, you could play recordings of synths or real instruments, then capture the bird-mimiced versions and have some unique samples. Except no one would believe you because they'd just sound too much like the originals.
