Bitcoin, Lick groin - (Krautrock is the new ambient) 🤑🤑☠️☠️
Hi!
I was working on a quite “poppy” sort of intense song and took a little break. Got totally sidetracked and ended up doing this instead. Krautrock is like ambient to me. It’s all about going with the flow and noodling around, whatever happens, first take stays. Like ambient, but faster and with drums. And it’s audio!. Wave files with ragged edges and little spikes.
I’m gonna rant for a while. Please skip ahead 🙃
The lyrics (if you can call them that), are inspired by the thread at this forum Off-Topic discussion about Bitcoin and cryptocurrency. I don’t get the Bitcoin thing. I feel like it turned to be the complete opposite of what it was intended for. Instead of an alternative to speculation and “the market” it’s empowered people to become part of that. To see musicians get into that… I just don’t get it. We should be destroying the monster, not creating little ones. Of course, that’s my personal, biased, totally subjective view.
Geek data:
As usual recorded with Zenbeats in clip mode. Unbeatable for “record whatever figure out what to do with it later”. Also it stretches the audio so you can drop whatever loop to play along to.
Then I mixed in Cubasis 3. My first time. The latest update makes all the difference with group tracks, side chaining… for example I can now use side chain in the bass track with a Pro-Q 3 to duck the lower range of the bass when the kick drum hits. Things I did in desktop and missed on iOS. I still miss buses, but we’re getting there.
First song in years with an actual, regular guitar 🎸 and not my usual 3 string cgb. Felt like cheating. They put those extra strings for a reason… The amount of octaves!
I used Nembrinis all over. Ps1000 on bass, Vox DC30 on main guitar and BST (+ IR impulsation) on the second one.
The drums come from a DrumDrops loop which I stitched together. There’s actually a lot of stitching. It’s a very simple piece but there’s weird accent-timing phrases all over.
I’m quite happy with the sound on this one. Would love to hear your opinion and comments, dear, wise and respected forum people.

Just brilliant. Very krauty 🇩🇪
Incredibly well done - and great song beyond just the technical feat of sounding this good.
nuts. nailed it
Wow, great sounding everything! Well done!
I know what you mean about recording actual guitar first time in years.
Hmm Zenbeats huh…? I deleted that one.
Ja! . Danke
Thanks mate!.
🙏 I’m not mad about the vocals, but it all had to be first takes,so that’s it.
Thank u all for the comments. Means a lot!. 🙌🤟🤟🤟
To me, there’s nothing like Zenbeats for this kind of stuff. Very quick and painless. Doesn’t kill the inspiration.
About the guitar, yeah it felt quite good. But it’s heavy as hell compared to my cigar box!. I should get one of those 80’s guitars…. (heads to google)
Check this out!. It’s steinberg too, works great with Cubasis, and so horrendous that it’s cute.
Bit like my guitar

Indeed!. Any good?. Is it light as a feather?
Seriously good! I'm feeling desert rock vibes.
I have the matching bass to your guitar too. Mine is in need of some neck work though. I've gotta do something to get the bow out and I've run out of adjustment on the truss rod.
great track! love that driving groove! well done!
That’s not my guitar! 😂 I was kidding around. I have a boring Telecaster. I always thought those tiny guitars were awful but I’m finding I sort of dig them now!.
Thank uuuu.
Well, it’s not absent of mass, but, well, the missing extraneous curvy wood accounts for less weight overall. It’s nice and compact. From what I’ve read since, the Hohner G3T (this one is a left handed one) is comparable in quality and desirability to the Steinberger, or maybe better, or not, I don’t know. I always thought of it as a Steinberger copy when I got it but in recent years I’ve learned that it’s quite respectable.
The look was kinda of an era. I'm expecting a revival soon. Steinberger is a great engineer/designer though. There are some really cool things about his instruments. The only thing I really don't like about the bass is that it isn't the greatest for sitting down and playing.
Oh yeh, I like the song
Chances are a lot of those B17s were deployed from US bases in the UK.
The band America who did the song Horse With No Name were unusual in that they were a British band, comprised entirely of Americans! Yep, they were three young American-born men who after they graduated from school played music together in the UK, their parents were US forces personnel stationed at the USAF base at South Ruislip here (just north of London), so they formed the band here in the very early 70s and started performing live in London, and got a record deal.
Man , I just realized it’s Steinberger and not Steinberg…. 😬
Very cool song. You are such a good musician.
I do the same thing the other way around. I always have to catch myself on not calling Steinberg Steinberger.
Great respect. What a track!!🧔🏼👍🏽🙏🏽
I also share Your thoughts about that Bitcoin-thing.
This is fucking excellent!!! Thanks so much for sharing
Very much appreciated!. Kind words 🙌
You know what’s even worse with things like Bitcoin?. When it goes sour, somehow we all end up paying for it with some stupid crisis no one understands!.
No. Thank you for listening!. Means a lot!
