Serious Problem With Korg Gadget 2
I have a serious problem and I don't understand what's going on! I would like to drive Korg Gadget 2 from the GR16, then I open the promo instrument in Korg and put GR16 Midi Out Channel 1 and it works, then when I put the second instrument and map it on channel two it doesn't work! or better, if I click on the pads it works, but if I use the external midi keyboard I always play channel 1 even if I clicked on “trigger” channel 2 !!!!
Comments
Maybe try changing the midi-channel your external keyboard transmits on...
Did you switch "MIDI Input" to "advanced" in your settings?
Yes!!!
I have this
Is GR16 set to poly midi mode or omni?
Gadget always listens to physically connected keyboard. If you want GR-16 to receive the input and not gadget, set the keyboard to transmit on a channel Gadget doesn't listen to.
Well, not being able to change the midi transmit channel using the front panel is one of the reasons why I retired my MKP Mini Mk2. Seems like the same 'issue' is present in Mk3 as well, what a bummer...
Oh, and it's not a 'Gadget Problem', it's a controller problem...
it is very strange because in Cubasis 2 and 3, everything works fine, only with GR16 I am encountering this problem
In GR-16 set the Midi In Mode to Omni, this way all input goes to the currently selected track no matter which midi channel is selected on the controller. In poly Mode each track receives on a dedicated midi-channel...
Disable 'Midi Thru' in GR16 since that just passes the midi from your controller to Gadget on the channel it came in on...
In GR16, “1” is Track 1 in Gadget and “2” is Track 2 in Gadget, for me there is a bug in GR16
@dav30383 : put a midi monitor between Gr-16 and take a look at the MIDI. This will give you a better sense of precisely what is going on.
Can you be a bit more precise on what is and isn't working?
Btw, you don't need a camera to take screenshots. There is a combination of buttons on your device that will save a screenshot to photos
So the problem is this: on the GR16 each Pad (from 1 to 16) correspond to 16 Midi Channels that I can "connect" to 16 Korg Gadgets. By clicking on "Trigger" of the GR16 I set the midi "listening" channel and I can record, what happens is this: clicking on PAD1 and using the external midi keyboard, everything works, but when I "trigger" PAD 2 (therefore Midi channel 2, therefore instrument in Gadget 2), the keyboard still plays PAD 1, but if instead I use the GR16 in "Key" mode, everything works perfectly, so it seems that the GR16 does not manage the "Midi Trhough" automatically, or better it manages it only internally, with Cubasis for example, on each midi channel just click on Midi Trough, and everything works perfectly! Sorry but give it a try too!
This is not a serious problem with Gadget2, you should rename the topic to avoid further confusion
