Oh, how much I wish there was a iConnectMIDI 1++

I'm kind of coming late to the party of fully understanding what the iConnectMIDI 2+ and 4+ can do!

That said It is almost painful for me to contemplate getting one as they are painfully close to the mark but each miss it in their own way.

I'm sure that I am like more than 50%-80% of IOS music people who have both an iPad and iPhone. That represents a huge amount of power and flexibility when you consider being able to use them together.

My wish:

  1. Size of the iConnectMIDI 2+

  2. One MIDI DIN set

  3. Three USB ports like the 4+ (giving you the ability to connect 2 IOS devices + comp)

  4. USB hub port like 4+

  5. Single combo XLR audo in

  6. Single 1/8" audio for monitors or headphones (serious audio out would be done with passthrough)

I would be all over a box that had all but the last two, the audio options. I'm dreaming though so why not go for it all!

Now, I'm not really complaining, the two existing boxes are incredible, game changing. The size and cost of the 4+ gives me pause as I am trying to make my entire setup fit in my single bag. I also, even with an old MIDI setup, don't see myself needing more than one DIN set.

Thoughts? Especially from current owners of either or both ofthese great devices?

I guess it would have made more sense to leave out the last poll option as many might want to select that + one of the above options. I'll see if I can edit it.

    Fixed

  • Current 2+ owner. Wouldn't really be interested in that feature set, especially only a single pair of 5 pin MIDI ports.
    But that's just me...

  • I figure that most people that would want more than 1-2 DIN sets would be using the device in a physical set studio setting where the size of the 4+ would not be an issue.

  • I would actually rather it have 2 DIN sets, but would be ok with 1 and figured the real-estate was needed for other features

  • 2+ user. I love it for midi and audio. The big thing I want is iPad to iPad audio pass through. If I had known the 4+ did that I would've maybe waited. But it's so pricey for that one feature.

  • 2+ supposedly will also pass audio between two iDevices, per iConnectivity.

  • Woa. Nice find @zymos. Cooling my 4+ jets for a minute.

  • Zymos, thanks for that pointer! That makes a huge difference. Does not change my wish device, but does make the iCM2+ more of a no brainer for me.

  • Note that we haven't actually seen anyone do this yet. That was just on the word of a company rep.

  • In that same post, the last comment, Matt tested it himself. Comment from yesterday

  • Oops, I did see that, sorry. Not quite ringing endorsement enough for me yet. I'll believe it when @zymos says it.

  • If I say it, it's going to be second or third hand- I don't have the power supply or second cable, so I'll be watching to see if someone else does it.
Maybe Derek has the 2+ also....?

  • Hey all, thanks for the great feedback - always appreciated.
The iConnectMIDI2+ and iConnectMIDI4+ both feature our 'Audio PassThru' technology. This allows you to turn your iOS device or another computer into an external sound module (or even an aux send - wet/dry send for effects) with very little latency. The iConnectMIDI4+ is also able to connect to a network for wireless connections, so you can be in "Studio A" and use a sound module that is in "Studio B".
