Checkers, but only when playing against Flem Snopes with a board born of violent charcoal markings on rough pine while using broken pieces of colored glass and agewashed crockery as our minuscule legions— vanity and purpose as their otherlife goals, but now, ineffably now, inadequate crusaders of absurd folly.

I was a parcheesi freak in my earlier days, though.

If you ever played Master of Orion, Space Empires is the closest thing you can find in board games. But be warned, many of those on the list are heavy games, they need lots of time and involvement. If you like noir crime stories, try The Bloody Inn. It's a fantastic game, light on time (40 minutes per game).

Noir crime is right up me alley. Me and the wife love board games and want to start playing more so I’ll bring this one up to her. Thanks my friend :)

These are the games we brought with us on our most recent camping trip 🏕

    I miss Bang! For iPad.

  • Her is my iOS collection. I have some old games from 32 bit years on another iPad.

Also, I have other folders for card and dice games.

You know I never think to play board games on iPad and I forget how many there are. So thanks for the reminder lol

  • Does anyone have an Apple Arcade subscription? There’s a lot of puzzle and board game type apps included in it.

  • The user and all related content has been deleted.

    Seriously? 😳

Those 6,99 Euro = 83,88 Euro is nearly the same as Amazon Prime with all the benefits for a year, even after the coming increase.

Anyways, did you check how many games you can buy for this money?
Games that you can always continue to play!

If you like to dabble around and test lots of games, get a month worth of Arcade ... once per year or every two years, to test them.
But I like to games for a long time and even replay them!

Buying them is way better than an Arcade subscription - just my 2 cent about this

Unless I’m mistaken, are some apps not only specific to Apple Arcade?

I agree it’s not cheap, but it’s $4.99 here with is 1/3 the price of Amazon prime. I suppose it’s worth it if you play mobile games a lot. But if you’re interested in a ton of the games available in arcade, it may not necessarily be cheaper every time.

I’m just curious how people who are using it like it.

  • Or you could sign up for yucata.de and boardgamearena.com and play loads of great board games for free. :)

Board games are like the spice of life, adding flavor and fun to any gathering. I see a lot of classics mentioned here like Monopoly and Scrabble, and they're timeless for a reason! Personally, I'm all about the strategic thrill of Settlers of Catan and the hilarious chaos of Exploding Kittens.

But you know what often gets overlooked in the board game world? Spider Solitaire! It's the unsung hero of solo gaming, perfect for those moments when you just want to unwind and challenge yourself. There's something oddly satisfying about arranging those cards in descending order, don't you think?

Now, regarding the question at hand, I believe each board game brings its own unique charm to the table. Whether it's the strategic depth of Chess or the cooperative teamwork in Pandemic, there's something for everyone.

I love playing board games, especially when friends or family are around. It’s got a nice mix of strategy and teamwork that keeps you on your toes. One of my favorites is double deck pinochle. The game is pretty straightforward once you get the hang of it, and it’s one of those that feels fresh every time you play. There’s also a fun balance between the bidding phase and the actual play, where you’re trying to win tricks with the cards in your hand. Plus, the point system is unique and keeps things interesting. I highly recommend giving it a shot if you like card games!

  • I'm into heavier board games. The pandemic pushed me to dive into solo games. I have a nice library and a little space I've set aside to keep things set up for a few days while I play through.

For people who enjoy board games, Spirit Island is worth a serious look. The iOS app is excellent. There's a learning curve. Excellent alone or with a partner (my wife is not a serious board gamer but she loves it). It's a cooperative game like Pandemic, but due to its complexity, it's unlikely anyone at the table can dominate decisions (unlike Pandemic).
