I'm drowning in cables I've had enough of untangling and searching for x cable bla bla
I'm going to get some clear boxes to store different types and get this under control before I go mad

Any advise of best ways to keep things organised

Do you wrap them correctly? Learn the over under technique and tie them with unvarnished cotton tie line (also called trick line), or Velcro if you like to make your life more difficult 😉

This will ensure a long cable life with shielding intact, neat piles in those containers, and neat lines when you lay the cables out.

You know you’ve truly become an audio nerd when you start over undering the garden hose…

Most of my cables are rather short, data cables of various types. So I found this solution for a drawer.

Stuff gets mixed up quickly when I’m looking for specific ones so I have a good quality designated bag and once a month I take them all out, wrap them neatly and put them back inside in a vague system of organisation. Works for me without being too rigorous and helps to put eyes on all the cables once a month to know roughly what everything is and approximately where they are.

Sell up and buy several iPads. That’s what I did and I don’t regret it at all.
I sold (almost) all the gear I owned but I still have the masses of cables, connectors, adaptors etc in large bags under my bed. I can’t bring myself to throw them out and I can’t be bothered listing them on eBay 😀

Cables overwhelm me. I use as few as possible and they are all as short as I can get by with. THE worst part about playing amd recording music. I don’t see how studio producers and engineers can do it. My anxiety would be through the roof.

But I already use 3 iPads an iPhone a 595 looper 2 guitars a midi interface an audio interface a launchpad and a mic haha

It’s not the cables I use they’re good it’s all the other overflow of used unused unknown unseen lost tangled up cables that’s my problem

Adding a patch bay more than doubled the number of cables I needed.

You can get 100 packs of velcro cable wraps on Amazon for dirt cheap, highly recommended. You can cut them to length, clean up desktop and rack set ups, and keep all your cables nicely coiled and organized when you store them (I use clear boxes to store mine too).

I use the velcro wrap for everything in my studio, they help a lot with keeping things tidy without being too hard to re-patch if needed.

Whenever i buy new gear, it pretty much comes with a patchbay. I hate cables too.
Its why i refuse to get into modular.

Noice! If I had clients I would go for the velcro straps but I love the quick and lazy stuff it in a tube approach.
